Hi.
I am attempting to lose a stone and was wondering if anyone is in the same boat and would like to join me?
I dont plan on doing any kind of specific 'diet', just cut out the crap and exercise more.

Can I join you?
I don't particularly believe in specific diets (though in general a lower carb intake works fairly well for me). I also need to lose 1 stone and intend to just eat less rubbish, drink less wine (!) and start doing some simple exercises, which must be free! Since it appears that some form of summer has finally arrived, it will be easier to get out of the house for walks.
It would be really helpful to have a 'forum buddy' to check in with. I have zilch willpower generally and enjoy a good life, which is proving less good for my waistlineProud to be a moneysaver0 -
:T Me too!
I keep trying and just don't stick to anything. I'm always trying to eat low(ish) carbs. The wine and beer we drink in the evening is my main problem.
Did run a while ago and want to try to start that again. Also any other sort of exercise.0 -
Hi GFN, you sound just like me. Free exercise, check. Lower carb intake, check!
I have also joined the weightloss thread in OS if you fancy coming over there too?0 -
Hi Flissh- welcome
I like the idea of running, but am always full of excuses!!0 -
I'd like to join in, might motivate me....I'm having an operation on 16th August so could do with being a little lighter by then (I'm classed as obese, can't believe I've got so heavy)
Like GFN I won't be following a diet as such, it always seems to me people put the weight back on....just need to eat less, and cut out the evening glass of wine or two. I am a real foodie, I love cooking, I don't comfort eat I just enjoy food, no excuses. I'm off work until September so plan to walk every day or cycle and keep busy to take my mind off food between meals.
Good luck to us all!0 -
Hi Lucy,
I know what you mean in regards to people putting weight back on- i really want to avoid that too, hence not going on a diet, but changing my eating habits for good, and increasing my exercise.
I keep on thinking about going to exercise classes, but am too embarassed to go alone...yet i have exercise DVDs i could do at home!
I am the queen of making excuses!0 -
I will join in. I find that it's hard to lose weight at the moment. I've cut back on things, and have started decreasing my portion sizes, and I think I've lost a few pounds.
I find the things that let me down are wine, cheese and eating out.0 -
:j
Fab!
I also have the 'excuse' of being a real foodie who loves cooking and am simply just darn lazy and unmotivated when it comes to exercise!
Glad everyone here is of a very likemind
First step - buy some scalesHaving never dieted or really worried about my weight, I've never owned any. I note Asda are selling some electronic Salter ones so I shall order them to collect in the week. I'll post my starting weight once I have some.
WantToBe (may I shorten that to WTB? See, I'm even a lazy typist!!) I spend a lot of time browsing the OS forum as that's pretty much how I enjoy living, but their weightloss thread is too huge for me so this one is a great place to start and stay motivated on!
Thanks for starting this
Oh, and in relation to starting things, I should probably polish off the 2 bottles of wine, chicken (for roasting) pork belly and chocolate matchsticks that are in the house this weekend, right...?! Maybe not all in one go though
One benefit already, I will be forced to make my own lunches for work from now on. I do it 'mostly', but that sneaky old Lazyitus creeps up and I treat myself to a sandwich and crisps from the cafe, and can't help munching the biscuits left laying around. If it's there, I'll eat it! If I bring enough of my own healthy food in I will save money and not be tempted. No excuses anymore!Proud to be a moneysaver0 -
Glad to see you all here- i was worried i'd be the only one on this thread!
GFN- feel free to shorten my name to WTB, i get lazy typing syndrome all the time too!
Dont forget that Argos are having their clearance sale, maybe worth checking for scales
I am currently fitting into size 14 clothes, but if i am honest with myself, they are getting a bit too snug, and i have never been above a size 12 before now!0 -
Can I join? I have a stone to lose. And probably another [STRIKE]two[/STRIKE] one after that
I start the day well then I go to work and when it gets stressy I reach for the chocolate
Then I'll get home and get a [STRIKE]couple of[/STRIKE]glass[STRIKE]es[/STRIKE] of wine as a treat for "surviving" the daywhich leads to cheese and biscuits in front of the tv.
Seriously need to change my ways!0
