I'm so so sorry that you've had such a horrible month :(

It sounds like you have a lovely supportive family around you though. Having a hearing ear and someone to comfort you is invaluable :(

Just sending DS1 off to MrT for some milk as I forgot to get it on the way home. Saw my Mum and DNephew today. We went to a ball pond play place. Virtually the only ones in there as sunny outside but it meant we could have a cuppa and catch up whilst the children played safely. Costs covered by another budget.

Working tomorrow morning then the dreaded 'let's get measured for school shoes' trip that always takes longer than expected :(:(

The only method I use now for rice which gives perfect results: fluffy rice, doesn't stick to the pan, uses hardly any power to cook is simply:

Put 1 part rice, 2 parts BOILING WATER (I always measure mine straight from the kettle) into a pan

    Bring to a ROLLING BOIL.

IMMEDIATELY pop on a lid then TURN OFF THE HEAT COMPLETELY.

The residual heat perfectly cooks the rice in about 15 mins or so!!!:j

The best thing is, that even if you are late serving up your accompanying dish, or your guests are late, etc. your rice will still be perfect AND HOT 40 mins later as long as you NEVER LIFT THE LID.

It is impossible to overcook, dry out or stick to the pan. :j:T

    I guarantee this method.

It is one that you need to try first to believe.

    You will be converted!

I use similar method - slight variation:

1 part rice with 2 parts water on full heat with lead on till starts boiling.
The moment it stars boiling - heat on minimum and 10 min like that.

Never take the lead off from start to finish - perfect rice every time ;)

I'm sorry for your news, it's horrible when a relationship fails and you must take the time you need (and don't forget the practical side, like reduced Council Tax if you are the only adult in your household). My thoughts are with you
