I love basmati too. I've now stopped buying it though as it is getting so dear:eek:
I got a KILO of long grain rice from
Asda today for 40p. :money:
Why not buy an own brand coke and rebottle into a recycled Pepsi bottle when you anticipate a spend may be likely later in the day?
You will feel victorious and empowered whilst sipping away at defeating the urge to spend;):A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

No spend day today! Made coconut and vegetable rice with mushroom and cashew stir fry but OH hated the rice and wouldn't eat it, so bit of a fail
I had made extra for lunches too! Have packaged up all the leftovers and frozen in individual servings to have with curry instead. OH had cocoa pops and toast for dinner instead lol.
We've had a bit of a niggly, argumentative eveninghe's really down at the moment because of work problems, poor soul. I've been tired and had a headache and I think we're both annoyed at how messy the flat is but we're playing "tidying chicken" rather than dealing with it. So we're both in a bad mood. Will get up and hang out laundry and put away dishes which I know will make both of us feel better lol.

I know...I cook my rice in the microwave (one cup rice, 2 cups boiling water) for 10 mins and basmati is the only rice I've found which works like this. Do need to start getting the big sacks because I get through a ton of it. Problem is with not driving I can't make use of the ethnic shops which are the best price. Will search around online.
On that note, you know I've never been to Mr A before - simply because I've never had one near me. Also only been to a Mr M once for the same reason.Mr A do deliver and I've always said that I should try them out because they are the only one I've never ordered from so far.
For Diet coke, I admit I am a bit of a snob - I don't even like Peps!Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

The only method I use now for rice which gives perfect results: fluffy rice, doesn't stick to the pan, uses hardly any power to cook is simply:
Put 1 part rice, 2 parts BOILING WATER (I always measure mine straight from the kettle) into a pan
Bring to a ROLLING BOIL.
IMMEDIATELY pop on a lid then TURN OFF THE HEAT COMPLETELY.
The residual heat perfectly cooks the rice in about 15 mins or so!!!:j
The best thing is, that even if you are late serving up your accompanying dish, or your guests are late, etc. your rice will still be perfect AND HOT 40 mins later as long as you NEVER LIFT THE LID.
It is impossible to overcook, dry out or stick to the pan. :j:T
I guarantee this method.
It is one that you need to try first to believe.
You will be converted!
Why not bulk buy coca cola when it's on offer and rebottle the good stuff for taking out with you. The large 2 litre bottles can be bought at a similar price to the 750 ml bottles some times:eek:
Reusing plastic bottles is better for the environment too which is always a good thing. :A:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
