Just found a block of puff pastry I took out the freezer the other day. Ant ideas on using it up? I havnt got any pie filling for it so snack type thing would be better.Cheers.
You could make fruit turnovers - not sure if you have a block or sheet. I usually have the sheets. Make it a rectangle if not, and cut into squares (4-6ish). put chopped apple (or berries, banana, or even jam) in one diagonal half, leaving 1cm edge to stick it together - don't over fill or it will boil out. Depending on how sweet you like it, you might add a sprinkle of sugar, then wet the two sides that join where the fruit is and fold the opposite corner over, pressing down for a seal (I use a fork prongs to make it pretty, or my fingers to pinch-pleat the edges but no need!). Paint with beaten egg or milk and sprinkle with granulated or demerara sugar for a little crunch (any works). Cook until the pastry is golden 15 -20 minutes max in a med-hot oven 180-200c. Let them cool or you will burn your mouth. yum!

Afternoon, just popped on to announce an NSD (for the first time in ages!) Tonight's tea is now made, ready to be reheated later so there's not much to do later. Think I'm going to have a break tonight, as I've got a big load of baking to do tomorrow!

    Have everyone is OK.

    Another spend, Mr A. £45.71.

Got bits for the kids going back to school on Wed (yogurts, kids portions of cheese, etc)

Didn't have a plan or a list but think almost everything we got was stuff that was needed!

Oh and I'm trying to wean (or cold turkey) OH off fizz so we got a large bottle of Ribera on offer at £2 for him. He is already complaining and trying to pretend he's not addicted it's been less than a full day so far! (and he does still have some fizzy juice left in the cupboard!). He drinks more than 2l of it a day!

    Will update in a bit!

Last night I went to C0stc0 and I bought a pack of 24 tins of beans for £7.83 (I think). They will last us for ages :) so that was a good buy. Today I went to Mr T's. He was kind enough to send me some vouchers a while ago because I had spent some money there ;) and they needed using up, so I did £5 on the voucher exchange and turned it into £10 to spend on frozen food. I also had another voucher for £1.50. My total spend was £12.45 so I only paid 95p for the lot :T

Branston beans are £1 for 4 at the minute so it would only have cost you £6 for 24 :(
    Every little helps

Took sprogs to a Friday club today.
Made an egg custard tart and posh mince pies to take with me (they were selling cakes to cover the cost of hall hire.). I made a lemon meringue too but wasn't sure if it was ok so that is in the fridge for family guinea pigs!

    We are all pooped now.

Nice to read of everyone's picnics and low spend excursions.

Kids we're playing nicely, i put this down to the older 2 coming back from their mums yesterday and everyone missing each other a bit. Well that didn't last long and they're back to normal now and driving each other mad, so i've decided we're going out. I've just packed up a picnic from what i can find in the kitchen, this consits of

    2 x leftover flapjacks.
2 x bags of mini cheddars.
    4 x packets of crisps.
    1 x packet of strawberries.
1 x tub with ham in.
1 x tub of cheese spread.
    4 x bread rolls.
1 x tub of cucumber and home grown toms.
1 x tub of tuna and cucumber salad.
    5 x oranges.
    5 x bananas.

This should easily feed all 6 of us and do snacks for them for the rest of the day. Kids can make their own rolls up when we sit down for lunch.

So as today is going to be a NSD we're going to meet their dad after he finishes work and he can buy them an ice cream.

    Katy, X

Sounds like you guys will have a good time. Thinking of you with meeting your ex, and hope it goes well.

I just met up with mine to sort stuff for ds christening, and that was strained. Enough said, but could be a long story!!

    Amen, sister!!

We have just started geocaching, which the children have decided they love, even though we've only found one so far!! Gets them out in the fresh air, with a purpose rather than just for a wander. Lovin' it!!

NSD today, and yest, in fact, can't remember when I last went to the sm! Maybe Sunday, or even Friday!

Will be shopping over the weekend to get some stuff for our camping trip (Next Thurs to Sun). Don't know what yet, as my friend is coming over to plan that this evening with me. Their family is coming too, sharing my tent!

Palmiers (loads of recipes online) - can be either sweet or savoury. BAsically rolled out very thin pastry sheet, dredged with sugar (for sweet) or somthing else (basil and sun dried tomatoes is nice, as is parmesan and tomato). Roll up either side towards the middle so you have two circles joined at the bottom. Cut into thin slices. Wash with egg/ milk and bake on high. Nom, nom, nom!!:D
