Thanks Eveie, going to have a look now!
Edited to say, I had a look and it looks like a lot of calculations and complex to make it work. However it looks like an interesting system, I shall reexamine it at a later date but for now will stick to the GC. Thank you for the suggestion though! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Morning!
I can second the second purse, i did do it, then it fell by the wayside (oops) hence my low stocks nowThis month i've allocated £50 to stocking up and £250 to food budget - but have just included it all as one on here to make things easier.
So far this month, i've spent £47.50 on my stock and £37.70 on food. I still need to buy a shop for this week. That £37.70 was spent at my mums house as i was there for a long weekend. Am hoping i can claw back some damage and still come in on target  it will be tight though!

Welcome to all newbies - good luck with your budgets!
And hope all poorly peeps are feeling better soon!
Have to add my congrats to Katy, who is doing amazingly well......I applaud you for the way you are holding everything together for you and the 5 littlies. :T:T:T
My hubby left after 31 years, and although my DD's are grown up, it has taken me a year to really get a grip on a life so radically changed
I am working my way through the freezer, had HM LO baked chicken and peppers yesterday, HM LO chicken casserole today. Planning on D*nald R*ssell lamb burgers tomorrow.....
I havent been able to go YS hunting because of lack of space in the freezer........does anyone think buying a little chest freezer would be a ridiculous indulgence, with just me here full time? With the addition of DGS half the week, Nice-New-Man as often as possible and 2 x DD's as and when they fancy Mums
cooking :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Apple & Sultana cake - does anyone have a tried and tested recipe? Looked at the ones at the start of the thread and online, but some people mention them being dry......I had a lovely moist slice from a Farmers Market at the weekend, and would like to try making one, but unsure how to make sure it remains moist???? Maybe soak the sultanas 1st? But would they sink then?
Thank you0 -

I've seen chest freezer's selling for as little as £40 round here (2nd hand obviously) and wanted one but i've no space as i've already got a fridge freezer and a small under the counter freezer:D If you have the room i'd say go for it lol, my two are usually well stocked :T
For the cake do the recipes use oil? I remember my nan's ones years ago and they were always moist and she used cooking oil instead of butter? xMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Thanks, JJ, will be stocking up on some of those as I'm running a bit low
To the poster who queried using a jar of Chicken Tonight dated last year, it's only a best before date then open it and give it a smell. If it smells OK, it should be fine.
I've spent a total of £3.25 today - didn't really want to but the mushrooms I had in planned for tonight's stir fry have gone sadly rather soggy. They'll get used, but have got some more for tonight. Also bought some stuff for sandwiches.
Tea tonight is going to be sweet & sour with noodles. I've got a pack of sauce I made earlier in the year in the freezer which I'll add to with some extra vinegar to pep it up a bit. Nice and light.
Soworried - your tea sounds lovely. Rather fancy some of that myself!

Hi all.
Have been making all sorts of goodies today, without spending a penny, so feeling good
Have also been using stuff up and trying to root around the bottom of the freezer before buying stuff for dinner. Found some whoopsied spicy bean burgers from T so am having those for dinner, with HM sweet potato wedges (before they go all soft and i have th throw them away), but i have about half a bag of the sweet potatoes left..any idea if i can freezer them?0
