Wow it's not even August yet and I've just had 12 pages to read (sorry skimmed over). My first ever GC in July came in at £208.74/£200, so a little over.

I'm going to aim £200 again this month (thats for 2 adults, one toddler, a cat and covers all food, toiletries and cleaning products). It's a 4 week month and we're away over the bank holiday so I'm hoping I can come in under for August.

So a fresh new start, going to need to get milk & butter tomorrow tho. The latter because I left it out last night and the cat got her mucky paws into it!

First spend of the new month yesterday and used my Tescos vouchers from July £126 on groceries/toiletries down to £106 with my vouchers:D

Tescos are also starting their Club Card Points exchange so they are worth double - wish I hadn't traded mine in for DS's birthday present two weeks ago now:o

    Can I join please?

I am going for the ultimate goal this month so could you put me down for £175 please? For 2 adults 3 children, will really have to watch the pennies this month!

Well, it's the first of the month, so I'm officially joining you now, having lingered around in July! I have woken up starving, which isn't great for the gc as I usually crave rubbish, but I have tons of stuff in, and I'm determined to make this month work.

I am going to cycle into town in a while, to have a mooch through the charity shops, as I haven't done that for ages. Cycling means no use of fuel, and no parking charges, as well as exercise for me (def need it). I've had a £20 sitting in my purse since Friday, so I think that will be broken today!

    And now, a plea!
I am catering my son's christening next month, and would love some ideas that are cheap, nice and will look great on the day.
I have the cake sorted - my friend is doing that - she should be a professional! But,I need ideas for the buffet lunch type thing. And, being me, I like to have a plan early on, so I can get my head around what I have to do and when, when the time comes. TIA!

Aiming for a nsd to start the month off well, there is absolutely nothing I need, not that that has ever stopped me before!!

    Have a great day all,

    PG x

PennyGrabber, would this link be of any use to you? It has loads of ideas for buffet food, but i am not sure if you are looking for something a bit more 'posh' LOL!

The children are going to their Dads this evening, and will be there until Tuesday, so i will be planning on delaying my weekly shop until they get back. Hopefully that'll save some money.

That's great, thank you! I don't necessarily want posh posh, I just want something a bit different to our normal birthday party food!

Uh oh...already not doing too well. had to nip to asda last night to pick something up for a friend and as well as what i picked up for her, which she will be paying me for, I spent another £14. with it being school hols the girls have been having lots of extra snacks so I picked up bananas, 2xyogurts, eggs, 2x milk, 2x bread, choc spread, hummous, 2x pittas and a sneaky bottle of jaques for me and hubby to share tonight.

heading over the the fiscal fast thread shortly , need to try for at least a week with no spending, preferably more, to keep on target.

  • It is the start of the new month for me. Declared £216/£250 for July and I am going to try for £250 again this month. With three hungry children home for the summer and their mates always round, do not think it would be realistic to try and reduce it, but might try in September if I am successful this month.
£2015 in 2015 (Although actual goal is £10 a day)
