I'm just having a quick break from working through a pile of the stuff

There are 5 of us and it takes 2-3 hours once a week. I just hate dragging all the stuff out to do it but once I start I'm fine.

I only iron clothes, never bedcovers (only pillowcases) and think that anyone who irons socks an pants is a little bit mental :D:rotfl:

When my hubby and I were first married, I used to iron his boxers for him because, in his words, "his testicles sat better":o

I don't anymore. And his testicles seem to be okay.......

Butterfly - you might have hit the nail on the head. My iron's pretty rubbish so I should probably invest. Not sure if I'll go for one of Steph's steam generating one's tho.

And your naked ironing idea sounds interesting - maybe it'll make time go faster (or at least I'll be able to get my programmes on the tv for once ;)

I had a steam generator one but found it really heavy and cumbersome. I can't tell you how many times I dropped it or it fell off the board. The one I use now which is brilliant, very steamy but just like a normal iron is Morphy Richards Comfy Grip. It's got a really long cord which is fab. It wasn't that expensive either (or I wouldn't have bought it).

I used to iron nearly all of my clothes, and then I went backpacking for 8 months and so didnt iron for 8 months. And I realised none of my clothes were creased - so what on earth was I wasting my time on before! I made sure once they came out the tumble dryer I folded them or hung them up or stretched the creases out. Or, in some places we had a washing line so I made sure to hang them straight on that.

Now we're home, there are a few tops I wear for work that require ironing and the odd pair of trousers and some nicer skirts but I have definitely cut down on what I did before.

lol - looks like I'm just doing too much then and what I really have to do should be done in the buff with loads of steam :blushing:.

Will have to have a serious talk with my mother to put her right (think i know how that's gonna go though!).

I enjoy it. It means I don't feel guilty watching the TV as I usually iron when I am. Otherwise i'd feel guilty doing nothing while watching it. Or iron while listening to music. I stand to iron if I have music on (I get more done that way) and I sit down to iron when watching the TV. Get a good steam generator iron. It takes an awful lot of work out of the job. A lot of things I don't even iron - I just put them on a hanger and steam the creases out.
