Help, please.
I have refused a property viewing for tomorrow. This is the response I have recieved from the director (not sent directly to me)
Thank you for coping me into recent emails in connection with the appointment made for tomorrow.
I confirm I shall take this appointment personally and show the prospective client the property. I note the correct procedures have been made to request access.
The viewing will take place at 2pm tomorrow afternoon. Please instruct the locksmith to be on standby to remove the apartment door lock and indeed perhaps Des to remove the apartment door if necessary. The tenant must be aware that she will be responsible for all cost incurred by ourselves in relation to accessing the property. My best estimate of these costs will be around £160.00 plus VAT for specific timings.

Why are they trying to intimidate you? No answer necessary.
You absolutely need to respond to this email! Please inform then that any attempt to break into your home without your express permission will be treated as harrassment and illegal entry and any costs incurred will most definitely not be met by you.
Copy in the landlord if you have their email address. Also forward your response to both parties IN WRITING. First class, retaining proof-of-postage.0 -

He seems to appreciate that access has to be sought but that does not automatically mean consent must be given.
The man is an @rse and a bully.0 -
Nice of them to give you proof in writing that they intend to break the law!
edit: and who on earth would take a flat from agents that do this on a viewing!? I suspect they actually have no intention of removing any locks, they are just trying to bully you.0 -

I don't have any contact for the landlord. I don't want this to go to court or police or any of that !!!!, I just want to live here until I leave in a months time in peace!
I can't do it in post writing again as they want to come at 2pm tomorrow.
I have responded via email (the way this correspondance is being handled currently) and said it is harassment. I also called as I was panicked and they told me to email and that 'they have a different opinion' on it being harassment and that they have given me 'ample opportunity' to let them in.
They have always been 'reasonable' with regards to my refusing viewings (one out of 5 with one rearrangement!) and now this is just going too far. Im sat in tears cos I'm bloody scared.0 -

They are selling it, not showing a prospective tenant round. But yeah, I agree. Bullies...0 -
Let them do it, phone the Police once they have and show them that email. They will then find themselves in handcuffs taken to the police station and interviewed under caution.
Best thing that could happen to them.0 -
Okay my reponse, its not good as I am in a state but here:
As I am sure you are aware what you are threatening to do is harassment and falls under the category of illegal eviction. You cannot come to my home and threaten to break in/remove the door because I have refused a viewing.
I have not been unreasonable and I think you are being unfair telling me that I am being unreasonable. I will not be harassed, and if someone turns up to take my front door off the police will be called.
If you wish to respond civilly and rearrange the appointment for a time next week, then I am willing to be co-operative but I will not respond to these threats.0 -
They may believe that they have given you "ample opportunity" to allow access but the issue is that you are not obliged to give them any access whatsoever. Legally or morally.
I'd like to see them attempt to recover their costs for illegal entry from your deposit......0 -

I have responded. If they don't reply what do I do. Do you think the police would come if I called them and said there will be a breach of the peace?
I love how they have passed it on from the female to the male boss and the male viewer. I don't really want two men coming round whilst I am here on my own. I could ask some mates to come over

Maybe - but not the best thing for the OP who just wants quiet enjoyment of their home!0
