Our favourite autumn meal is a melange of cubed roasted pumkin or squash (we like butternut), chestnuts (cooked in the same dish) to which we sometimes add streaky bacon, and or blue cheese. We sometimes have this by itself, sometimes as a pasta sauce. so you could add pasta for the family but have a bowlk of the real flavour bit yourself! Its autumn perfection!
Otherwise bacon with mushrooms is simialrly warming autumnal combination. I'd probably make portabello bacon avocado sandwiches, using grilled portabellos for ''bread'' and topping with yummy garliucy bacony mushrooms warm and cold sliced avocado and have it with celriac salad.0 -

Big problem is I can't eat pastry or pasta or I would make carbonara or a quiche!
Any ideas?

Minestrone - home made doesn't have to use pasta but bacon always adds something extra.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0
