Two Cars and internet are essential here...couldn't run the businesses or cope without so not a luxury, dogs also keep me sane so not a luxury although the insurance is just going up and up.

I still buy Clinique foundation, it's the only brand that has good true colours for me...it's expensive, but I use it sparingly and even more so since one of their 'girls' showed me how to apply it with a brush. I used to love their moisturiser, but have been trying to find a cheaper one that works as well...getting by with Simple products at the moment, and a fab Aldi product which is £1.99 a pop. I can't remember what it's called (and CBA to go upstairs) but it comes in a little pump dispenser and has 'shimmer' in the name.

I do like a nice scented candle, I very rarely buy the Yankee Candle ones I really like (not the big ones anyway) but I sometimes treat myself to one of the little samplers...and I stock up on the glade type ones when they are on offer. I 'could' give up candles...but it's not a big expense is it?

Bras are an expense for me as I'm not a standard size. I have to buy them in proper lingerie shops...but I secretly really like nice underwear so I've not 'really' investigated a budget range. But hey - I buy what two/three a year, and usually pick them up in a sale. I will never buy a Doreen!!!!

Brown sauce has to be HP, Ceasar Salad dressing has to be Cardinis, and I like Lindt chocolate. But it's not going to be a make or break on the budget is it.

Goodness....I think I have frugal through me like a stick of rock! I've found ways to get most of my indulgences on the cheap :rotfl:
  • I don't buy any magazines or books, try to shop at Aldi or Tesco to take advantage of deals/things Aldi doesn't provide, avoid takeaways and regular nights out... but just can't give up going to my salon hairdresser! Did try a salon student one (misleadingly termed a 'graduate') once, but it was rubbish; I've spent the last 8 months growing out layers she cut too high, and she couldn't cut a fringe, so the more experienced lady had to come over and sort out the very short remainder! Lesson learnt there *shudders*

  • SURF SMALL AND MIGHTY, but always bulk buy when on special offer, gave up the lenor infusions for vinegar, works much better
HEAT, i like the house to be warm. Only put the heat on about a week ago, I close up all the gaps and put down draft excluders, but would prefer higher heat than a blanket or jumper
LIGHT - it is all energy saving (well nearly), but i have led fairy lights running up the stairs, which i use to light the hall and they are on all evening and i have 4 lamps in the lounge

    Frizz ease.

I'd scare the neighbours without it.

Me too  Lack of Frizz ease brings a whole new meaning to 'bad hair days'!

    My cant live withouts are
    Car
    Frizz Ease
    Internet
    Mobile
A decent moisturiser (no7/clinique or similar)
    Clarks Springers for comfort
Dentist check up and polish twice yearly

I have ditched Sky, a £65 month hairdresser, neither of which I miss..... I use catchup/iplayer for any thing I wish to see and a hairdresser friend does my hair for free (although I send her off with a token S&G gift) as she refuses to take any money

The main ones are internet and contact lenses. The internet has helped with the lack of a car (got rid a couple of year back when I couldn't afford to repair it any more), as I use it one heavy goods shop per month online (tinned things like tomatoes and beans, rice, pasta, soya milk) @sda is fairly cheap, £2, for delivery if you don't mind having one of the six hour delivery slots, so it's definitely cheaper than running the car.

Contact lenses I won't do without, as every time I used glasses for more than a month or two by perscription has deteriorated, and on contacts it's stayed the same for a couple of years at a time. Contact lenses probably aren't very OS, but being able to see okay matters more.

Try https://www.daysoftcontactlenses.com,i use them and have saved loads!

    Wont give up....

    Head and Shoulders shampoo
    Persil Soap powder
    Sky
    Internet
    Brabantia bin liners
    Clinique Foundation
Quality leather shoes (work busy shifts on my feet so essential for me)

    Have said goodbye to

    Acrylic Nails
    Andrex loo roll
Pets ...never replaced a cat that passed away :(
Clarins/Clinique moisturiser (use Olay so not strictly Moneysaving but a bit cheaper!
New winter coat every year, current one was bought before my son was born cost me £225 and he is nearly 7!,still looks good and couldnt justify that amount of money atm

Bet theres more for both lists,be racking my brains for rest of evening!

    Magazines.

    Decent tea.

Ooh and a decent haircut at Trevor Sorbie but I get it coloured for free there.
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.
