I love my dishwasher! Also love my slow cooker, breadmaker, mini oven, stick blender, and I will eventually love my yoghurt maker, once I have trained it to make nice thick yoghurt! (runny, gloopy messes so far - but I'll get there!)

Oh, and the food processor too!

I love kitchen gadgets! The slow cooker is fantastic and gets regular use, the breadmaker is a new addition but I can't see me buying shop bread ever again.

We have a 40" plasma TV, a Sky subscription and a Wii. Not very OS, but OH works hard for his money and this is what he chooses to spend his 'discretionary' money on!

Quite right too. :T OS isn't about martyrdom and struggling after all. ;) To my mind it's about living within one's means.

My means allow me to have all the kitchen appliances I deem necessary, including a Dishwasher.
I also spend a great deal more than some on here on my weekly shopping budget but I buy excellent quality meat and veg.

I also pay for someone to help me with the garden. :D

I'll put my hands up for loving my dishwasher too! I also confess to an espresso machine - I was horrified when DH bought it (cost more than our first car!) but I love it now.
    weaving through the chaos...
  • We cancelled our Sky+ subscription when I had a mad moneysaving month recently, but couldn't bear to lose the recording facility on the Sky+ box... So we kept it @ £10/month.

We bought a Wii at Christmas and have used it 3 times

I bought some lovely brown suede winter boots at 1/2 price in November, I've been trying to break them in but they hurt my feet so much because I have to park a long way away from work until possibly Easter. Looks like they may have to languish in my wardrobe until NEXT winter at this rate! :o

Boodle - yes you've just triggered my memory for that one too. But if I have a cup of tea or plate for a snack and OH isn't around, I often find myself rinsing them under the tap and leaving them to drain on the draining board. (luckily we don't have a water meter - yet ) (Well done for keeping within your grocery budget this week. Put the change in your "treats" money box !)

I do the same thing I'm ashamed to say - wipe the butter knife or the crumbs from the plate of toast and put them back :o

Thanks for the "treats" box tip, but I may will need that extra for next week's shop :rotfl:

The dishwasher. I'd cry if it broke :o Working full time without it, it would be a choice between cooking proper OS meals or washing up :o

OH has an expensive expresso/filter/cappuccino machine that frothes the milk and everything.... I've only just given in trying to get him to sell it (as he's only used it once) and learnt to use it instead - decided I really like the filter coffee and the expresso :o

The dishwasher is my treat. Once you've had one you really don't want to be without one.

Like Silvercharming - it would be the LCD telly and the Sky HD subscription, DH is a huge rugby fan, so we subscribe to Sky Sports and Setanta. But we don't go out often, so that's the compromise.

Me, I love my American style fridge freezer and the dishwasher :)
  • I would love a dishwasher! Mum and Dad had one and it was so nice!
Really the dishes are my nemesis and I would get one if there was somewhere to put it.:(

We have a flatscreen tv, virgin, wii, xbox, dvd recorder, surround sound, macbook, pc. And everything gets left on standby :o
I can never remember to turn lights off, it always looks like Blackpool Illuminations.

Baby wipes. I generally use flannels at home, but hven't got round to sorting a system for taking wet flannels in the change bag. But at least the nappies are always washables!

The most conspicuous consumption though is my big Emmaljunga pram which cosy £450. I hasten to add it cost my Mum £450, we wouldn't have paid that, and she wanted us to have a 'proper pram', but it is so ostentatious. I sort of regret getting it now, but I do use it, even though I've bought a lightweight buggy as well. I don't drive and you can't carry a food shop home on a buggy.

Hmm... I need to hang out on OS more I think!
