Morning all
I feel good today, still dont think I am in ketosis yet, is it usual for it to be delayed this long??
Had a lovely pamper the weekend, lots of naps and lovely baths with essential oils and face/hair masks, really enjoyed it!
Anyway I have a question: can we have sugar free gum?? I'm glugging the water but my mouth tastes foul today, yuck!
If not Im off to buy a toothbrush/paste, I can't stand it it's horrible!
Hi Claire
The horrible taste in the mouth is a symptom of ketosis as I recall. I was told to drink as much as possible to get rid of it. Not sure about the sugar free gum, I know some people use it with no effect on the diet??
I am on day 2 of restart and am looking forward to getting the next couple of days out the way!!

It can take 4/5 days to get into ketosis - some go into it in 2, it just depends on the glycogen stores in the body.
Sugar-free chewing gum is fine, I have chewed it every day since starting on CD. Some people do find that it makes them hungry so if it affects you that way you will just have to give it a miss.
Keep your water intake up.
The manky mouth is technically not a by-product of ketosis but of the fact that eating food helps to clean the mouth to some extent.
The death breath is ketotic since the fat we are burning during the fat-burning process produces ketones which are expelled via the urine and the breath.
It is worth putting up with it for the sake of losing weight, though!

Thanks gals,
I have been drinking water all day long, I've had nearly 2 litres so far (I have to have 3 per day due to only doing tetras). Just been to the shop and they have no toothbrushes!! The woman still tried to sell me the toothpaste!
I'm going to have some sugar free gum and see if that helps, I don't think I've got bad breath but I'm a bit worried just in case!!Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
To see if you have bad breath - lick the back of your hand and wait a couple of seconds then sniff it!

Hi all
I do read this thread as The Cambridge Diet is very dear to me as it transformed my life a couple of years ago. I kept the weight off fairly well for a while especially while getting hooked on exercise but with an ankle injury the exercise has been hard to keep up with and weight has quickly gone back on especially over Xmas. My eating has really regressed I think I need the exercise to motivate me but being an all or nothing gal if I can only exercise moderately it doesn't have the same appeal.
Anyway currently I'm ashamed to say my BMI is 28.4 so fully back into over weight and my body is complaining angrily. My knees are painful and according to my husband I have started to snore and stop breathing in my sleep. My body really hates being overweight I think I was designed to be lean I only get overweight through overeating and not due to metabolism or genes. Therefore I really need to get this off again ASAP. I'm starting again today, this is my final 'day one'. I hope to post on here a bit but will be cautious as in the past posting on here has jinxed my diet. For instance got to day 8 perfect little angel, post on here back to day one. So obviously I will have to see how it goes and do what works for me.
Good luck everyone put everything into this diet if you are going to do it. That is the only way it works, you can't half do it or modify it. If you stick with it though the results are fantastic and it aint really that difficult.
Hope to report back to you with positive news.
I will do this!
We can do this!
By the way personally I think this diet is moneysaving. Water and packs is all you need. I saved a heck of a lot of money last time I was on it. This time I have decided to buy the packs with overtime I'm offered. A half shift of overtime will buy a week of Cambridge. So have decided that for every day I stick to it I will put £3 into my saving pot as I will easily save that in food. Also when I save on drinks and meals out etc I will add those savings too. Hope this helps to motivate me as it is true, this diet can cost you a fortune but only if you cheat eat and therefore are unsuccessful.
OMG I do go on.
