Although he dosent get pocket money as such, if he wants money he has to do jobs to earn it, which sounds good in theory, the downside is if you ask him for help with anything now, he always asks "How Much will I get?".
funny my Erin is like that too! she's only 8!
She got an easter egg, a card and a £5 from her gran and partner yesterday, and she stuck it in her bankie... going round tescos last night there were some lovely big Mr Men plush cushion type thingys... very cute actually... for £10... so she asked if she could get one... i said £10 is a lot of money, so i would pay half if she used her Easter £5 to pay the other half... i think it does them good to learn that money has value... although she's gonna be better than me, she's already got more savings than me!! i.e. she actually has some! lol!!! - all i have is a sealed pot!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

Just you all make sure you keep up the good work over the weekend, and report back on how well you have done on Monday!!!
Will try to be good, it helps to have somewhere to report back to....
i've moved my weigh in to sunday next week, so i have 10 days to lose this week!
The reason i moved it is, because i was recognising a pattern of getting weighed on a thursday night, being nibbly over the weekend, then being 100% good from mon-thurs again... so this way i need to be good over the weekends too... as i will be getting weighed on a sunday....
Does that make sense? CDC seemed to think so...I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Michael is very good at not spending his own money! He will ask for something, eg he wanted a new wrestling lunch box, and tell me he really needs it. So when I say fine, you buy it out of your money he suddenly dosent need it anymore!!
I think your idea makes perfect sense, after all so much of this is in the mind, convincing ourselves why we are doing this and tricking ourselves into keeping it up.
Thats why I started this time on a Friday. I have always been a "lets start on Monday" kinda girl, which inevitably leads to a weekend of excess. Then usually I will last about two days.
After reading through the thread it just kind of clicked, and I have gone for it and most of the time feel pretty good about it.
I think thats a really good idea, and if the 10days to next weigh in sounds a bit hard, why not weigh yourself now on your own scales, then you could give yourself a quick 5 day weigh in to keep you going!0 -

I'm sorry.... i thought you were a boy!!my bad!!
I am a bit of scale hopper.... although my scales don't always agree with CDC's, so i just use them to get a downward trend rather than an accurate reading as such.....
erin usually does that oh i don't really need it thing too.... when it comes to her own money... ! except i think this mr men thing was extra tempting... little miss naughty! how appropriate, eh?!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Duncan is our 3 year old gorgeous Boxer dog.
I have been using it as a screen name for a while now, Sue and its various permutations are just too common.
You're not the first and its quite funny sometimes:D0 -
Wow, so many newbies on here. Welcome to everyone, i think this little board is great for encouragement.
Maz, Welsh Woble, Church Mouse and Duncan, well done on your losses
Keewee, be strong, we'll all gain at some point. You CAN do this!
I've got guests staying this weekend and planning to stay 100% ss. I will be so miffed with myself if i give in to temptation as i know it just wont be worth it.0 -
Maz, Welsh Wobble and Duncan well done - fantastic losses ! I thought Duncan was a fella too! :rotfl: I am definately a girl mouse; well a middle aged female mouse really!
I loved hearing about the MSE children, they'll go far!0 -

I'm out on the town tonight and gonna have to drink water - booo - how boring is that! At least I won't have a hangover in the morning when everyone else is suffering. If dogs don't go to heaven, then I want to go where they go. :A0 -
I think I would have big problems mrs t and welsh cake if I had guests and had to go on a night out and not drink!
You keep up your resolve, good luck, and yes think how absolultely wonderful you will feel afterwards when you have driven back the demons and beaten temptation.
Part of the problem with piling on the pounds is so much to do with our social lives revolving around food and drink. I have just cancelled mine for the immediate future!, I have actually scoffed at people for doing this - just for a diet, but at this point I am doing really well and am not sure I could suceed.
I've turned down a couple of do's and we usually have a BBQ at Easter, which isn't happening this year.
I am also supposed to take some guests to the races with work in May and I am trying to think of a way to manage that without eating and drinking all day.
Which is a good sign - at least I am confident I will still be on track in May.
Its very sad, Easter weekend is usually quite sociable to us, but I am hoping if the weather is good I can talk the family into turning out the garage, which desparately needs doing.......need to keep very busy.0 -
Church mouse, I'm not really a girl anymore, except in my head.
Turned 40 last year and find it quite hard to think of myself as middle aged.
The last 20 years have gone nowhere at all.
We are all 21, and slim and fit on the inside, arn't we?????
Just need to get the slim and fit bit on the outside so everyone else knows!0
