  • My husband is doing CD with me and our counsellor see's lots of men who all seem to do really well on the plan.

Our favourite sachets are choc and mint choc, we've tried all the others and although they were drinkable the chocolate ones are the only ones we've been able to drink 3-4 times a day for 3 months! I hated the soups but my husband goes through phases of having them - his favourite is the chicken and mushroom which he added a bit of curry powder too.

With regards to sleep I was told that carboyhdrates make you release a chemical which makes you sleepy and as your not having many on CD you don't sleep well until your brain gets use to not having them!

found out thay my good friend and neighbour is doing CD too, altho she is not going thru counseller, she's using packs that a family member gave her..... when i went into her house she was a bit embarrassed at first til i told her i was making steps towards the CD myself! so she's going to support me a bit and vice versa!

Went to the docs today to get the ok as i have a BMI just over 40. All signed ok and spoke to the counsellor.

What actually happens with deciding which packs to go for? Which ones would you recommend? I have 4 as i'm a bloke.

I like all the shakes, can't stand the ready made up ones and find the soups a bit bland, although sticking a bit of curry powder in the chicken and mushroom one sounds ace.....

    broccoli and cheese soup.......yuch....

    Which ones would you recommend

I actually like most of the shakes,
the only one i didn't like was the forest fruits one, yuck.

I make mine up in the blender i put 6 ice cubes in 150mls of water and then the packet, and hey presto i have a shake.

sometimes i have them warm at night, usually it is the chocolate ones.

Soups as i don't mind cup a soups i go for the chicken and mushroom plus sometimes the veg ones. i don't like any of the others.

I avoid the tettra blocks, which are the ready made shakes up, as i find them to rich, and i def avoid the bars, which your only allowed after 2 weeks (i think) as i like them, and i want to eat more than one.

My advice to you is to just buy 1 of each flavour, that way your going to find out which ones you like and don't like.

Porridge i like them both, probably like the plain one better, than the apple and cinammon one, but at least it is food in a bowl.

Make sure that you drink plenty of water, spaced out over the day,

Maz if your going to start on saturday, i would advise you reducing your carb intake, over the next few days, and drink more water, it should make saturday easier.

Remember the 1st few days will be hard, but once you get over these you will feel good.

Good luck to you all, end of day 2 for me.

Thanks chris....... i will drop my carbs, thanks for the tip! well i will drop the easily identifiable ones....! i have trouble spotting carbs in the less obvious foods.... will avoid bread products and rice/pasta.... do like my breakfast cereal, so i can imagine i will be a porridge person when i begin!

so I am in preparation mode, or whatever the term is.....

as Saint Chris said i should try to lower my carbs... i had a small (teeny tiny, then threw half of potato away) baked potato, with tuna (mayo ) onion and tomatoes for lunch... not as carb heavy as my normal lunch would have been, have drunk 1.5l of water today, plus 1 cuppa tea.......

have pepperoni mini and cheese string for later, but only if hungry......intend to fill up with water!

although have runclub tonight, so need to stop drinking at 5pm til 7, as don't need to be peeing for scotland whilst running!

My CDC bloke said that he thought i might want to cut my exercise down as although not counter productive it won't produce any bigger losses....

So may only run once/swim serious once in the week... run once/swim once for fun at the weekend....... i look forward to cutting it back, as although i enjoy it, i was doing it to get results at first, so if CD will give me results without it then great!!

I don't really want to cut the running out, as i do enjoy the "me" time... but i can certainly use the extra time more effectively at home...!

  • I have been doing the cambridge diet for two weeks and have lost a stone and 12 inches already. I have saved money because I'm not buying my usual snacking foods. The flavours are great and now I'm in ketosis I'm not hungry. Because my vitamin and mineral intake is great through the sachets my skin and hair are looking good and I feel fab. When I think about the money spent at Weight Watchers over a 10yr period just to get fatter, I'm gutted I didn't discover the cambridge sooner!!!!:j
