Oooh a question (probably for CnQ)
What does Quorn taste like?
I love the idea of Quorn sausages or burgers or Quorn bolognaise (once I've finished obviously! Cause bolognaise has tomatoes in) but I'll probably be disgusted if it doesn't taste like normal meat
And is it healthier/lower in fat/calories than pork, beef etc?
Cause I might use it permanently if it's healthier and similar to normal sausages etc.0 -
I had never tasted quorn before CD. Now it is pretty much the only thing I eat as a main meal. I love it. There are some yummy peppered steaks and I love the sausages too. I would be careful because they say on CD there are certain quorn items e.g sausages that can throw you out of ketosis.
They can be quite bland but I used to have a drop of tabasco or some jalapeno peppers with mine (not strictly allowed)! The chicken pieces are great for a stir fry. I also like the meat free meat balls they have in asda.
I am definately a quorn convert!
The plain chicken pieces, mince etc are lower in fat as far as i know.Proud Mummy to Leila aged 1 whole year:j0 -
Does it taste like anything?
I mean, obviously it tastes like something, but you know what I mean.
Do the burgers taste like beefburgers?
Do the sausages taste like pork sausages?
Does the mince taste like lamb/beef/pork mince?
Though if I'm going to have 'chicken' pieces, I'll have chicken pieces, heh.
I'm not a veggie!
Thanks x0 -

We can only have the plain Quorn pieces that are either chicken or beef, or the 'chicken' fillets.
You can use herbs/spices to jazz it up a bit.
I like Quorn but you will have to try it for yourself to find out if you like it.
Had never eaten it until I went onto CD!0 -
I was a veggie for over 10 years due to food intolerances – I’m now a demi-veggie.
I still use Quarn mince and the pieces. Quorn does not really taste of anything it takes on the flavours of what you cook it with. It does have a different texture to meat too. It really does depend how you cook it. I have used it for meals for meat eaters and they didn’t realise until I said – particularly when used it a Bolognese, chilli, or cottage pie. The pieces are great in a stir fry. The only draw back is that it can be a bit expensive if feeding a lot of people compared to meat – but then again all food prices have gone up.
Personally I don’t think the frozen mince and piece taste as good as the fresh.
Its worth trying and experimenting!!

For veggie stuff the Tesco Spinach & Ricotta 'sausages' are yummy
Do do what it says on the pack and put them on some baking paper in the oven as they leak cheese all over the place.
Have had them very occasionally on 790 and they are lower in carbs/fat/cals than the Quorn sausages0 -

Yes, the sausages can! Please avoid them. It's not all about fat/carbs/cals. Most of them contain onion which could bring you out of ketosis, some even have breadcrumbs...another 'nono'.
Keep the the plain quorn. Not so interesting I know, but there's usually a good reason why other items are excluded, and that includes quorn sausages
Oh and BTW. I did eat quorn when I was on the higher Cambridge plans. I think it has a great place within the diet and if you are a veggie, but I very rarely eat it now. It is a highly processed food, and I prefer to 'keep things as natural as possible'.
If I'm going to go 'processed', I'd prefer something more exciting that QuornCambridge Weight Plan Consultant0 -
Hi Everyone
I am about to start the Cambridge Diet for the first time on Thursday. I have been reading this forum for some time and find you inspirational. Any help and advice you can give would be gratefully received. I am starting on the 810 plan for the first week, as advised by my counsellor, is this normal? Having read your posts most people seem to start on SS or SS+.0 -

CnQ, have you done a lot of excercise during losing weight? I've lost over 4st, with 2 to go... but I have and will have more excess skin... and stretch marks! (not on CD) My diet has been healthy eating and upping the excercise. I know some people can be lucky and age is against me! Hope you don't mind me asking?

For the most part just swimming two or three times per week with a bit of pilates thrown in. Not that much since I have RA which limits my capabilities somewhat.
But no, no excess skin here :j
I am blessed with good skin, though, which might be why I don't have any problems so far.
