Things that made you smile today.

I came home earlier after doing the week's shopping to find my 16 1/2 year old leading my MIL down the road on our 18 year old Highland pony  My MIL is nearing 70 and quite frail!! How she got on his back is still a mystery (she has trouble with her knees and stairs). It was so lovely to see 2 different generations completely at ease with each other and I'm glad my 16 1/2 year old is at least speaking to someone in the house :rotfl:

What made you smile today?

    Chocolate and a Bassett's sherbet dab. :D

  • She was always saying how she wanted to learn to ride a horse when she was younger, but never had. I thought it was one of those wistful moments she has sometimes. I was clearly wrong :D I'm still recovering from the shock! She seems to have enjoyed it though :)

Lesson learned for me - never underestimate the MIL or the daughter :rotfl:

  • Having sent my daughter to go and get ready for bed, she appears with her socks on her hands, her tshirt around her waist (think superman pants) and her leggings over her head (like red riding hood shawl). She thought it was hysterical and a 4yr with a tired laugh is very infectious.

Being able to put my outdoor recliner up in the garden, put the sun tan cream on, and read a book in the sun.

    Lovely.

A fabulous day out with my husband, 3 kids, a dear friend and her husband (also a dear friend) and 4 of their 5 friends.
    We had a BALL

Then after helping a neighbour / good friend with her 4 day old baby, who she was struggling with nursing, just sitting with her, reassuring her that she was doing amazingly, showing her a few little tips and a text from her 2 hours ago saying he was feeding well made me grin. She is doing amazingly after a traumatic birth and I couldn't be happier that she could relax for a bit. I have a massive grin on my face because I know how hard the early days can be and she needed someone to remind her how bloody amazing she is :D
