HR are purely there to protect the organisation's interests. Many tribunals are won not by the "injustice" caused but did HR follow the right procedures. Often they don't but how do you prove it? No one can rely on a fair internal process as far the HR process is concerned.0

Mildred, have you ever been bullied or harrased or had a nervous breakdown. You get no help from HR, who are only interested in protecting their own backs, and in the Civil Service none of them are trained or have CIPD qualifications. Sorry you can't understand, but hopefully one day you will, although I would not wish this on my worst enemy.0

You you are absolutely right - the NI Civil Service being one of the biggest employers in NI have HR departments where no one is trained at all... or indeed have any qualifications.
Here's a word of advice - I started reading this forum as a neutral however the way you present your case is very negative and very anti everyone else. You have made wild generalising sweeping statements which do you no good at all.
When you are talking to your HR talk about FACT - not what you think. Don't give them an opinion on any thing or any one - they wont want to know and won't care.
Only discuss relevant facts and nothing else - no guesswork - no conjecture Keep It Simple.I am a Financial Adviser specialising in Mortgages, Protection, Health and Medical Insurance. I also write wills. All information posted on this site is for discussion only, and should not be taken as advice.0 -
My union rep keeps me in check whilst talking to anyone, so I don't go off track...0

No, but I was a very senior, fully CIPD qualified HR manager within the UK civil service for more than 10 years..........Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Like Stephen I also started as a neutral looking potentially to give some meaningful insight as a senior HR professional in the private sector. It appears that my previous advice regarding own conduct/words/expressions and the perception it creates has fallen on deaf ears, that saddens me greatly as some of the early advice may have helped OP case, flimsy as it now seems..0 -
I am taking advice from my union, as my HR dept, have not helped me in any way......0

Glad to hear it. You pay the union to support you. That's not HR's role. (Them being paid by the organisation is a big clue)

in the Civil Service none of them are trained or have CIPD qualifications.
My neighbour works in HR for the civil service, and I know for a fact that she is CIPD qualified. I'd find it hard to believe that she is the only CIPD qualified civil servant in the whole of Northern Ireland, especially as she is not even in a particularly senior grade.
I approached this thread with a fairly neutral outlook too. No, in fact, I actually approached it feeling quite sympathetic towards the OP, as I too experienced bullying at work many years ago. But with every post, I lose sympathy, because this whole 'everyone is out to get me' attitude not only does the OP no favours, but it taints people's outlook towards everyone who believes they have been the victim of bullying in the workplace.
HR are not your friends - its not their job to be your friend, its their job to follow the correct procedures within the framework of the organisation and employment law.0 -
Snoozle all Departments have CIPD trained staff.
I totally agree with the sentiments of the rest of your post. :T0
