I will add my best wishes. I think a fishing thread is where someone posts deliberately inflammatory stories to annoy people and start a debate.

If this is an honest story I hope you can put this negativity behind you and enjoy your new job. I don't work in The civil service - but I know a lot about it and the majority of managers(like in any workplace) are normal, reasonable people. If you go back with an open mind I am sure it will work out.

Thank you for your support, it does mean a lot to me, as I am frightened of losing my house, because of mortgage arrears etc. Worry too much about everything. thanks for your help.
  • Good luck pepper, I wish you all the best in your new position and hope it is a positive experience for you. I understand your financial position and I also know how your health has suffered terribly through all this. I genuinely hope the bullies get their just desserts but you have done what you can do and as irishjohn says, let karma do the rest. Onwards and upwards and don't let them beat you. Thinking of you x

Thank you MrsWallace, how is life for you? Has your hubby got anywhere on that list yet? I really have appreciated your help, and others. It is just that I get so angry sometimes, I need to settle down and get on with my life. Wish you all the luck in the world, and let karma do its job....

Can anyone tell me why an Equal Ops Officer in my department HR, is investigating and deciding what grievance should be investigated by a third party. My grievances have nothing to do with equality.

Strange situation though..... won't give the evidence to the third party, and I have strong evidence....
  • I wouldn't be suspicious about that pepper33. A colleague used to work in DSD Equal Ops and they dealt with grievance cases that involved harassment/bullying as well as cases to do with equality issues.

They also dealt with internal discipline issues for the department. I suppose there wasn't enough of any specific type of case to keep a team fully occupied and the skills/knowledge required are similar for all too.

THanks, but I don't understand why they are allowed to investigate themselves, as surely they would be biased. I am finding it tough to get them to accept hearsay evidence, by my colleagues, as some incidents they did not witness. The police are not allowed to investigate themselves, so why should the government departments. Seemingly you have no say in what the sanctions are against the people. Yet I was asked how I would like it resolved.....

    Maybe because it is hearsay?
