No, but when you are receiving abuse such as swearing which I did under my other name, its awful an unwarranted. I reported quite a lot of abuse.0

How nice for you. But do you not realise that the reactions you got were because you asked questions that, to put it politely, demonstrated a great deal of irresponsibility on your part?
(I am referring to your current username - I don't know who you used to be.)0 -
I too have come on here for advice recently and all I got was sarcasm
Using your latest thread about the Halifax loan, you got a little bit of sarcasm and several people trying to explain how loans and interest and monthly payments work - hopefully you have now been saved the expense of taking legal advice and making a formal complaint that would have made you look a little silly.
By the way, I deleted all of the "!"s from the above quote - this will free up some more for you to use in subsequent posts
By the way again, that was sarcastic but is within my monthly quota.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
Dear All,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I have signed up just to say how shocking I find a number of posts from people on this forum. It appears from reading a lot of posts here that a high number of people are very vulnerable, have terrible financial difficulties and require help and advice and all they seem to receive from a number of people are posts like;
"oh well, you should have done our homework"
"well that will teach you for next time"
"haha, what a silly thing to do"
It's as if some people get some sort of pleasure reading some posts and trying to post witty remarks.
I'm not saying be all lovey dovey and tell them "everythings going to be alright", on the contrary, these people DO need to take responsibility for their actions but they also need help.
These company's are experts on preying on the vulnerable, esp. during a recession when many people are facing terribile financial difficulties. Some people are also not as computer literate as others so it's not as easy as them to just 'check a search engine' despite how easy it may seem to you. A website that may look dodgy to you may be perfectly acceptable for someone who isn't 'in the know'.
I guess all I am trying to say is this place is surposed to be a site where we are, to coin a phrase, 'all in this together' and to do our best and help other people so that we can all improve our lives, some people just need some reminding of that.
Thomas.
has it occured to you that people who regularly post replies on here get fed up of the same stupid mistakes people make, and if they can find this forum AFTER the event then why not BEFORE it?0 -
This wins an award of post of the month - maybe even the year:If Halifax hadn't lent me the money in the first place, I wouldn't be in this mess and I am looking at legal advice to see if Halifax lent to me irresponsibly, when they knew I was unemployed and on benefits.

I agree. There are some companies and people out there that are artists at preying on the vulnerable.
There are equally plenty of people who, despite being given plenty of warnings, seem determined to do the equivalent of breaking into their nearest zoo and climbing into the cage of the hungriest looking tiger, pimp-slapping it around the face until it's really annoyed with them and doing a bump and grind under its nose in a copy of that lada gaga meat dress.
And then insisting it's everyone's fault but their own when they get their !!! bit. Some people are also not as computer literate as others so it's not as easy as them to just 'check a search engine' despite how easy it may seem to you. A website that may look dodgy to you may be perfectly acceptable for someone who isn't 'in the know'.
At the same time, people should perhaps make more of an effort.- It doesn't take that much "computer literacy" to read terms and conditions.
- It doesn't take that much "computer literacy" to note that a website consistently mis-spells its own name, or that of the product it's supposedly selling.
- It doesn't take that much "computer literacy" to wonder how it's possible for an online shop to be selling genuine brand X goods for 10% of the price everyone else is selling them for.
And to be honest, I don't want to be rude but I'm getting a bit fed up of the "I'm not computer literate" thing, as you mention it. While I don't expect people who do not work with computers to understand how computers work, I do think we've gone long past the time that people who use computers should expected to invest a little time into understanding what it is they are doing.
If someone doesn't know what they're doing with something online, then perhaps they should find out before doing it.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Whilst some posters on here can certainly be blunt, the vast majority of those who respond to posts are doing so because they genuinely want to help and have some useful advice or support to give. You may not agree with their tone or posting style, but that's the downside to an open forum - people are freely giving their time and knowledge to help and I'm certainly grateful for that, even if they sometimes make me feel a bit silly.0

Headline compensation.
Typical posts On a daily basis.
1. Hi I just wondered in 2005 I took out a Halifax credit card And spent it all on really nice things including holidays and wondered if you think I got misold this and wondered what legal action I could take and if so what compensation should I be looking for.
2. Help I've just been scammed from a company for £49.99 claiming I will be receiving a decent rate loan although I have 4 defaults 1 CCJ and never paid any debt back but they promised me I would get the same APR as people who pays back debt on time.
3. Excellent Experian credit score but got turned down help!!
There's a few more but can't be bothered.0 -

I don't often venture onto this board, but have had a look through quite a few threads.
A little unexpectedly it appears that this board actually has surprisingly few trolls. Most of those who reply to questions are doing their best to be helpful. A little blunt perhaps, but definitely helpful.
Perhaps now that the OP has stopped lurking they will join in and give the sort of replies to threads which they consider are missing at the moment."When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -
I must admit that some people who reply to posts are not very friendly at all.
This is supposed to be a non judgemental site, but some replies are downright rude.
Everybody's circumstances are different.
In this economic climate, people do fall on hard times through no fault of their own.
Some of us like me wanted some help and advice, yet some people who respond are rude and sarcastic.0
