Some posts from certain people on this fourm are shocking

Dear All,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have signed up just to say how shocking I find a number of posts from people on this forum. It appears from reading a lot of posts here that a high number of people are very vulnerable, have terrible financial difficulties and require help and advice and all they seem to receive from a number of people are posts like;
"oh well, you should have done our homework"
"well that will teach you for next time"
"haha, what a silly thing to do"
It's as if some people get some sort of pleasure reading some posts and trying to post witty remarks.

I'm not saying be all lovey dovey and tell them "everythings going to be alright", on the contrary, these people DO need to take responsibility for their actions but they also need help.

These company's are experts on preying on the vulnerable, esp. during a recession when many people are facing terribile financial difficulties. Some people are also not as computer literate as others so it's not as easy as them to just 'check a search engine' despite how easy it may seem to you. A website that may look dodgy to you may be perfectly acceptable for someone who isn't 'in the know'.

I guess all I am trying to say is this place is surposed to be a site where we are, to coin a phrase, 'all in this together' and to do our best and help other people so that we can all improve our lives, some people just need some reminding of that.

Thomas.

So you're not one of the all too many people who have posted trying to blame others for their own mistakes?

OP, im not defending anyone buthave you by any chance had a look at other sections of the forum eg the benefits board as that can be quite volatile, some of the threads on the praise vent and warnings board can also be bad. I dont think the loans section is all that bad compared with the 2 ive mentioned.

Then theres posters who have a set reply that they want to get but most of the time the replies given are truthfull and the OP then gets all in a tizz with everyone and accuses them of working for said company.

Im sure theres even posters who start threads and then dont follow the advice that other posters have spent time posting.

There do seem to be a significant number of members who post unhelpful and judgemental replies. For a few it seems almost a sport.

While most would agree with your sentiments, unfortunately there are a lot of people that post on here that don't actually want to hear good advice, they just want people to agree with everything they post whether it is correct or not and when someone points out their mistakes they just throw their toys out of the pram.

This is an open forum and people are entitled to their opinions and views however if someone disagrees or points out their errors and they don't agree then they should ignore them, don't throw a tantrum and reply rudely or others will join in then the threads become argumentative and eventually the OP will accuse people of ganging up on them.

This board is also stuffed full of people looking to wriggle out of the agreements they made with loan companies on the slimmest of reasons. Then there are those that are clearly deluded and think that applying for a £20k loan for a car on a salary of £12k per year is perfectly reasonable.

Or those OP's that get tetchy when we dont agree that, yes, they should be entitled to thousands in compo due to them breaking a nail on some ill fitting shop furniture.

Some people have been conditioned into believing they can as they see other people doing it, are bombarded with easy credit (or were) and have little understanding of how credit actually works or where the "money" comes from. Partly their own fault and responsibility needs to be taken for that, however it is not as simple as you point out. Certain loan companies target people specifically who cannot manage their finances for whatever reason that may be. I have had debt problems in the past and it has taken me a long time to get it sorted, mainly due to unemployment and situations that were not present when the debt was created. In my current (and now long-term career) employment I work with homeless people, and I'm not surprised at how many people have lost their families or their homes (or both) because of issues out of their own control. It is nature to try and wrangle out of agreements made a long time ago. One guy has a serious gambling addiction with debt large enough that would put most people here between the noose of a rope. Why was he given 8 or 9 different credit cards and various loans? He was specifically targeted by those companies as a cash cow.

It doesnt help when the general public watch banks do the exact same thing and get away with it, and end up paying for it through their tax money. Whether you agree with that assessment or not makes little difference, it is now the overwhelming view of the general population with debt and employment issues, mental/physical health issues who cannot work, and those on low income - the working poor.

Here is an example on another forum of shear stupidity, despite everyone telling the OP he is wrong he refuses to accept he could be, even accuses one poster of working for the railway company, then carries on by spamming his ridiculous rant in another thread.

Then people wonder why some get no sympathy.

Excessive use of exclamation marks does tend to result in sarcasm.
