Plug pulled on Sir Paul McCartney

Wow, you've managed both ad hominem and argumentum ad populum in the one post.
That is not an example of an argumentum ad populum.
He's not suggesting that something is right or wrong based on the number of people who believe one way or the other. He's just saying that (relatively speaking) not many people care. That may or may not be true but, whichever it is, it does not qualify as argumentum ad populum. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

They clearly had NO intention of finishing by 10.15 as the band member said they would be done at 11.00. They should have started 3/4 of an hour earlier then, shouldn't they?
The blame is surely with the festival for not giving him enough time, even though they're surely aware of his long shows. They should have had better plans in case things were running late. But as for him giving a shorter show, why would these fans deserve any less of a performance than he gives elsewhere? I certainly don't blame him for trying to give a long show in spite of the events.
Springsteen could certainly have tried to work McCartney into the set earlier, prioritising this big duet, but he'd surely have come up against the curfew either way. It might not have been as big news if they'd only pulled the plug on him doing his own songs, though. This is everybody's fault but mine.0 -
Major capital city, vibrant centre of world culture yada yada yada. Yeah sure, but just make sure everyone's tucked up with their Horlicks by 10:30 on Saturday night.
Even stranger, I thought, were the Sunday trading hours down on Oxford Street - surely the prime retail spot in the country. There were so many people, so many tourists down there on a Sunday morning and yet so many shops unable to open early.
I think they're relaxing the trading laws a bit for the Olympics, but they should be doing it all the time. Those puritanical laws have no place in modern society, and these curfew laws come from similar places too. This is everybody's fault but mine.0 -

Care to have another go? Let's see just how many fallacies you can come up with.
Put another Bruce Snoozesteen concert on in Hyde Park and you and a few other whiners will not bother turning up, but there will be plenty that will. Most reasonable people get over it and get on with their lives!!0 -
So, the mostly-turgid Olympic closing ceremony concluded at five past midnight on a Sunday night with a performance from The Who, famously one of the loudest bands the world has ever seen.

Are we really still upset about this? That a global ceremony with an audience of billions and a special license went on later than a private show for 40,000-odd in a completely different venue? Time to get over it, maybe?0 -

Well, at least they didn't trot Sir Paul out for another quick blast of Hey Jude. They probably should have done so around half 11 if they wanted the stadium to empty and the event to finish on time."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -
Meanwhile, in Hyde Park last night:
Bombay Bicycle Club will open the event at 4.30pm, followed by New Order at 5.45pm. The Specials will then take the stage at 7.15pm and closing proceedings will be the much anticipated performance by Blur, who are scheduled to perform a two hour set from 9.00pm.
Apparently Blur actually took the stage at 9:15, therefore, presumably, finished about 11:15.
It seems that the poor, sleepless souls who inhabit Westminster can just lump it when the Olympics come a-knocking. Although by all accounts the sound was so bloody low you could barely hear it half-way back in the arena, let alone the other side of Park Lane (just as for the show t'other week).
If the persecuted residents of Westminster want a quiet evening when one of these shows is on the back of the arena is the place to go: probably quieter than a bus going round Marble Arch.Je suis Charlie.0 -

Or maybe BLUR knew the cut off time and chopped a song from their set.
You seem to be just guessing that they played on. On the other hand maybe the organisers asked and got an extension. Do you know or are you just still going on about some old American not been able to tell the time.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -

Has this discussion really sank to the level of "my pop star can tell the time better than your pop star".:(
