It can be argued that the landowner suffered a small loss of whatever the displayed P&D fees are for the period you stayed in the car-park. However only the landowner can seek for those damages and not a private company.

Ignore then and laugh when they waste money sending you threat-o-grams by mail.

You could send them the amount due (as in for 30mins) as full and final settlement.

Sorry to burst the 'Full and final settlement' bubble but it isn't as magical as most people think.

The 'urban myth' is that if you write 'in full and final settlement' on a chq it means that of the claimant banks the chq hey have 'accepted' your offer and so the matter is done.

It has no legal standing if merely written on a chq; for it to have meaning the claimant has to accept your offer [and banking a chq does not constitute accepting an offer].

So the claimant is perfectly at liberty to bank the chq and then chase for the rest.

Better to put in writing in a letter that if the cheque is cashed they accept the full final payment for the parking. Think they will have great difficulty then proceeding to the small claims with this
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Like most of life, misquoted and out of context. If you saw past that first sentence, I do carry on to say that is inviting them to more harrassement. That quick reply was to someone who wanted reassurance and to clear the conscience. But typing out all that (which you have done for me - thanks!) is hard on a small mobile screen! Lol :)

  • I too recieved one of these herendous fines, total missed the first letter that was sent to me, so l missed the payment of the reduced amount. I then recieve another request for the doubled amount. I at this point send the appeals section a email of why l actualy went over the two hrs by 12mins. They reply back saying l need to provide evidence. I forgot to mention lm a insulin dependent diabetic, and for my saftey had to stop at the service break, and had to buy a sugar based drink, l had then had to weight until l was feeling well, before l could drive away. They also say to me in the same email, l need to provide receipts of purchase. Which was the last thing on my mind at that time. I also gave them the choice of contacting my GP for confirmation. I still havent paid the fine but am worried what will happen? i was thinking of calling them but as you all know there is no contact telephone number? so what do l do now? Write to them? or just ignore them and see what happens? Any advice will be welcomed!:-)

You are taking this bunch of clowns much too seriously. They are not the police or the council but a tin-pot private company with no more power than you or I to demand money off people. You do not have to supply "evidence" or answer any of their stupid questions. From now on just ignore them and please read some other threads on here that deal with private parking companies.

  • I have been reading but your right they are a bunch of clowns, and all they do is bully! Like l said l gave them the choice to write to my GP? down to them to do it if they are that desparate to take their money? makes you laugh! im going to wait and see what they say next proberly a court summons?

There's a good reason for that.

They don't send one. They make more money that way.

You have more chance of winning Friday's lottery than getting a court summons (actually its just a claim in the small claims court, but you still won't get one). Just a series of letters containing legal babble threatening you with all sorts that then mysteriously fails to materialise.

Just ignore it all. They will eventually give up and go away.

Oh, and its not even a 'fine', its technically an invoice. That you are under no legal obligation to pay.
    Je Suis Cecil.
  • Your not gona believe it but they actually make you feel sick, lm going take your you advice and just file the letters, because if the worst comes to it l gave them the option to contact my GP, so effectively if they want to ignore my email thats there fault. Not mine? Let s see what happens as l said previously... l will keep the forum posted!......
