    they deserve respect
    They won't get it.

One of my great-grandfathers was a !!!!!!-shoveller. Did he puff out his chest with pride at supporting his 10 kids with an honest day's work? I hope not, because then people would have thought he was ridiculous, on top of being a !!!!!!-shoveller. I prefer to hope he knew how to laugh at himself.
"It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis

You say you run a successful business but didn't seem to know the difference between tax evasion & tax avoidance.
Does your accountant get your tax bill down?
How much do you pay your staff? Hopefully well over NMW from what you say.

Yes, footballers are overpaid. That's because some people (not including me) think they are worth it.
The majority of bankers that you condemn are ordinary tellers in ordinary banks.

I have to say that your attitude of begrudging anyone who earns more than you is completely alien to most business people. They usually hope to achieve the best possible & know that comes from effort.

Keep going..... I'm starting to recognise something about your posts. I'll get the name soon.

im not sure what picture you are creating haha but i hope its a good one , just for you i have my son who works with me , he is also self employed and i have sub contractors also ,i have no grudge with anyone who plays fair as i also has many luxurys in life , ie hot tub , holidays in florida and barbados, so dont ever think i am like that, i dislike because alot are crooked, you say about a good accountant and niggling at i try myself to avoid whatever paying , ever offset tax i get is usally down to buying new machinary and paying sons invoice and others all goes of to offset ,working for yourself you have to spend to earn unlike if you are a employee and this counts towards offsetting your tax ,also which i dout you new , self employed people have to pay there tax 6 months in advance (payment on account) regards to bankers they all have the same attitude and completly support anything the bank to anything that may blacken there bank , bankers are damm right greedy simple as, they charge me to deposit and withdraw my own money even tho i pay a maintance fee and also charge unfair charges , thats for all business acount users thtas why i hate banks, o forget to mention there bail outs and still award there bonuses , o and refusing to lend to struggling , i guess you are correct to my thinking regards to others , perhaps i was brought up not to be greedy and i have never stepped on no one to get were i am and proud of that, and prefer to give than to take were the less unfortunate are and i must say have taken home less than some that have worked for me in some days or weeks

Bankhater (damn I can't quote posts)

Sadly, we only need to look in the mirror (not the newspaper ) for that answer.
By the way Quasar... you need to make your next post extra meaningful as it will be your 100,000th.

Indeed in the mirror? Yes I and you are paying towards benefits and pensions of those who do not work. In that we agree.

As for my posts, nice of you to care, coz I don't. :)

oo hope it gets better soon:)

Oh, I know about being self-employed & about business bank accounts. They were charging to put in cheques 20 years ago. It's nothing new.
I started earning less than £20 per week in the 70s but hard work pays. Do your job well & you earn more & get a better job.
Eventually I ran a tourism business for 25 years & paid both an accountant &, in later years, a landscape gardening company to maintain my land at £150per man per day. So, being in a similar business, I'm sure you can make a good living.
However, I'd ditch the hot-tub if I was you ..... they're much too 'footballers' wives' ;)

Being successful is no reason to belittle the efforts of people who work for NMW. They at least have the dignity to get out of bed in the morning & go to work. Many don't but still wants the hot-tubs of life.

If the population continues to increase, with incentives and subsidies to have more children plus positive net immigration, then eventually the UK will resemble one solid Gotham City from Lands End to John O'Groats (or to Berwick-on-Tweed if Salmond gets his way), and still vast numbers of people will not be able to afford the home that they want.
No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

This post in DT, made a short while ago, is well worth a read, as it quotes the founder of the Big Issue.

That wasn't the conscious intention. But now you mention it, this allusion to a fantasy world is sort of appropriate in view of the fantasy world inhabited by those who think that ever-increasing propagation is sustainable, especially among those who do not work for a living nor have any intention of doing so.
