My objection to the 'disillusioned' comment was that it makes it sound like those folk chose to be disillusioned rather than it being thrust upon them when it's the last thing they want!

    I agree, FVD.

If the OP had said something like "I hope I'm never in the unfortunate position of having my life and dreams ripped apart by the person I thought loved me and was my soulmate", it would have come across better.

What a load of greeting face folk we have on here today.

I have a failed marriage behind me and have given up completely on relationships, but I thought the OP's post was wonderful. There was no dig. If you that line as a dig I'd suggest you start looking at your actions rather than the OP's.

If you see smugness or someone having a dig from that post all you are in fact doing is projecting your disillusionment and bitterness towards those that have not encountered the issues you did or worked past them.

I've not heard that phrase before so I have no idea what point you are trying to make.

There was a dig - in my opinion. I do not need to start 'looking at my actions' - whatever that means.
If you see smugness or someone having a dig from that post all you are in fact doing is projecting your disillusionment and bitterness towards those that have not encountered the issues you did or worked past them.

    I'm not disillusioned.
    I'm not bitter.
I've not had any issues so not needed to work past them.
    But I'm not smug.

But I do have sympathy towards people who may be less fortunate than me (and obviously the OP and yourself) and therefore I usually keep my personal life to myself - not flaunt it on a board used by a lot of people who do have problems.

That's MY opinion - you do not have to like it or agree with it.

Probably didn't help that it was a newbie effectively criticising our lovely regulars which I know isn't in the spirit of 'be nice to newbies' but maybe 'be nice to people who've had it tough' might be in order too :)

    That was our wedding song....
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

That is exactly the comment that made me write my post! The disillusioned bit! Which is why I said to the OP that they are lucky and they should remember that they are lucky because a lot of posters on here are not so lucky. (I don't know if the OP altered their post but in future I shall make sure that I quote before replying)

And if my post is slatting somebody, well some of you guys need to develop a thicker skin! Or go on DT to see what being slatted is really about!:rotfl::rotfl:

andyf3050, I agree with you to a certain extend regarding positive posts, for instance in the dfw forum. I think the difference is that when people post of their success (and I was one of them as I had a diary) it shows others that with hard work and perseverance as well as the support of other posters, you can get debt free. In my opinion, and this is only my opinion of course, a relationship is different in that no matter how much hard work you put in, no matter how you persevere, there is a greater element of luck and sometimes it will fail. Sometimes, you think you are happy and life is so rosy and then it all fall down around your ears - nothing you can do about it.

I read the OP early this morning, and it has definitely been edited since then.No idea why it's not showing, but the OP was very very smug:(BTW i'm speaking as someone in a happy realtionship so have no axe to grind:D:D

OP just ignore the first post! Some people need to lighten up.

If they'd just come on to share their happiness, no problem.

But they just had to compare their happiness to other people's 'disillusionment' and include a dig at others who aren't so happy.

So yeah, I agree with January.

I don't mind the OP (and others) posting on here about how happy and in love they are.

After a series of bad relationships with the last one ending with my ex (who I loved very, very much) announcing he didn't love me anymore and not only walking out on our relationship but also our three year friendship before it's given me faith and stopped me being quite so bitter and twisted about men/the whole love thing.

So go ahead and tell me how happy you are, it's making me cry but also giving me faith :).

Hopefully I'll realise that not all men are complete gits one day!
