Reading all these forums and threads, I admit I'm a newbie... I hope I never get as disillusioned as some...
22 years after the first meeting, I am still, In Love! 'anyone else?

25(ish) years since I met my Husband and I too am still very happy and very much in love with him.

Its very nice to hear some "good news" on this site and I personally dont think the OP should be slated for sharing.

I met my OH over twenty years ago. It has not been easy, two children, work, health but every day with out fail we tell each other how much we mean to each other. Bit mushy perhaps but it works for us.

Think I am very happy and very lucky, money worries yes, children worries yes, worries about just about everything else yes just like everyone else but thank god no OH worries.

Think it is important to share good news as well as the heart brakes.
Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A

Nobody has slated the OP... just mentioning it might be a tad insensitive! Especially as they say in their post about the other threads...

ETA - However the original post by the OP has now been altered so thats why post #2 and post #3 look worse to those of you only reading now...

  • Hi OP

Well done for staying in love all these years. And I know many people who post on this board are in distress for many reasons, but that doesn't mean no-one's allowed to be happy (speaking from experience, as I had a long marriage that ended in divorce after a lot of unhappiness towards the end, but have never ceased to be pleased when things work out for other people). My mum and dad were married for nearly 49 years and completely devoted until he died, so it can certainly happen.

I started this thread (link below). Although it's not been very long, we're still happy as the proverbial Larry and I still have the daft grin:D:

Yep 12 years on I am still madly in love with my hubby. Most people do not believe we have been together that long, as we are always told we act like 2 loved up teenagers. :) who cares? still in love after all those years and we are very happy together.

The OP hasn't been edited, otherwise it would say so at the bottom of the post. You edited your post though.

I like the thread anyway, I don't always like my husband, but I still love him to bits and would do anything to make him happy.

Next Friday it will be 10 years since we met and today we were talking about when we retire (we're in our 30's), so hopefully we've got a lot of milage yet! :D

    What about your partner? ;)

Seriously though, lucky you! But your post has mildly irritated me. What are you trying to achieve with it? Have you thought about the effect of flaunting your happiness in the face of people who are really struggling? Really heartbroken? Have lost the life they thought they had?

People post on here to get help with their problems. They don't usually post to say "hey look how happy I am nah nah nah!" That's why they mostly seem disillusioned.

As I said, lucky you! Just remember how lucky you are!

I see where you're coming from January20 but on the other hand I think it's good that this forum can be used by people who are happy and want to share that fact. It doesn't have to be all doom and gloom and sometimes it's nice to see the other side of life. There are other threads in this forum which celebrate different pleasing results, the debt free wanabee, for instance, boasts how lots of people who have struggled to get to grips with their debts have been, or are on the way to being successful.

At the end of the day... everyone can choose which threads to read and of which to steer clear...!

No it doesn't always say you have edited your posts (but some do) ... the last one I posted (and this one) I edited but it doesn't say so... and the OP's post has been edited...it said more earlier!

However... as I was saying...nobody was slating the OP we were just poiting out that her post was a bit insensitive...but then it was referring to what was originally written...now what it now says.

Yes, it does always say it's been edited, unless you edit the post within a couple of minutes of posting.

The OP logged off at 2.44am too (22 minutes after they posted), so there's no way on earth they could have edited that post once you and post 2 had posted yours, as they were hours later.
