Hi Cleo
My blood isn;t being tested for chromosome issues at all. He said it was the guidelines not to do it.
I'm not sure if it would be different with your history, though. Maybe they are allowed in certain cirumstances and I didn't fit those? I do know you can pay for it privately but I think it is a few hundred for that test - it's the most expensive one I think. My friend who is private showed me her list of costs. It's called karyotyping.
Did you have any of your babies tested? That would help them as well. I didn't because I had all mine at home and my local hospital told me they wouldn't test them if I took them in. St Mary's seem to think they should have done, but what's done is done.
I did have the scan the same day, yes. We saw the consultant, then went to have the blood taken, then had the scan and then went back in to the consultant. It was remarkably efficient for the NHS.
My pack that came before had a leaflet about recurrent miscarriage although I already knew it all from the books I've read. It also had the questionnaire to fill in.
My advice would be to allow time to fill that in as you will need to contact family members and aks them some very personal questions - they want to know if your siblings or their girlfriends have had pregnancies, miscarriages, etc.
I also found it took me a lot of time to piece together all the right dates about my miscarriages and how long it took to conceive each one. I had to go through all my old posts on MSE to do it as I had no other record!
How do I feel? Relieved we might have an answer and a treatment, scared in case it is something else that isn;t being tested for and therefore will be missed until we have another miscarriage. Kind of relieved we have a break from TTC but also frustrated by that.
Mixed emotions!
I'm trying to focus on other things. I dyed my hair which I never do while TTC although it turned the wrong colour so is a nightmare! I am also going to have my bunions operated on as I can;t do that while pregnant, and I'm going to chemically straighten my hair as well. So I'm just trying to find other things to do and think about to be honest.
I'm surprised your referral hasn't come through though Cleo. Mine was very quick. Who are you chasing? The GP? If you need a number for the RMC direct, I have one I can give you.
did your GP fax your referral through? Maybe ask them to do that. And then call Yvette at the RMC and follow it up. Don;t leave it to everyone else as it iss not as urgent to them as it is to you. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Hey Skintchick & Cleofish
Brilliant news about the appointment Skint - altho I understand the rollercoaster of emotions you are going through. It is lovely to know you have a plan in place of what to do, and that they are working on it all for you. Fingers well and truly crossed for you xxx
Cleofish - I got my normal result last week :j:j:j Took 10 weeks and I had a gain combined with 3 static weeks so got a bit scary at one point. Had a right faf going for a blood test as they were concerned the urine may have had contaminents in or something, but then that week my urine came back normal and had its biggest drop to date! Feels very good to be normal
I'd just keep trying with yr appointment. I hate chasing up for things like that, but in reality - the more you ring, the more urgent they will make it. Good luck xxxMarried my lobster in July 2011

Hi Skintchick, I work for a crisis pregnancy care centre in Halifax,
I am unable to post a link but just search for Careconfidential on Google
We are part of Careconfidential and have centres all over the country offering support and counselling to men and women affected by crisis pregnancies, miscarriage and abortion.
We also supply beautiful baby clothes and equipment to those struggling to meet the financial implications of having a family. Please do go on the website and give us a call if you or any of the other people in this thread feel you would benefit from talking to a trained counselor. We are a free service so there is no cost to anyone needing this kind of support.
Much love Charlie girl xx0 -
hi guys, its been a while since i was last on here, sorry for my absence.
just wanted to say so so glad to abis21 :j, i remember when i got to 'normal' with the testing and how good it felt just to be normal. I really hope you manage to be able to put things behind you now and move on (although i understand its easier said than done), getting to normal will be part of that, have they said whether you just have to wait the usual 6 months before trying again?
skintchick- how are things coming along with you? i can see that you said you needed to go back for further blood tests? hows that going? i know your further ahead of me in the process.
afm- i chased up my referral last week as they had told me i should have a letter by beginning of august- which i hadnt, to be told firstly they couldnt find me on system  then they told me it wouldnt be till sept as doctor had 3 weeks of! but in the end they managed to fit me in at last moment so i had it last thursday.
I didnt have anything like a pack to fill in before hand about our history so we put together ourself what we could. We didnt really need it as all the docotor did was ask basic questions on my pregnancy history.
I had a lot of blood taken, i now know what you mean skint chick:rotfl: i had 12 vials taken and my boyfriend had 2. Luckly we are both being tested for chromosones and genetics, and i am also been screened for clotting and TORCH screening- from what i gathered on the internet its infection sort of stuff that can be passed from mum to baby, again the docotor didnt really explain this very well. He also asked where i was in my cycle and they have tested me for fsh and Lh hormones- which i think are to do with egg release and i also have an
ultrasound appointment waiting to come through the post as well.
We were only in there 20 mins if that, basically 'here are the blood sheets, go have the blood tests' and the doctor said he will see us again in 3 months with all the results. He said given my history of the molar pregnancy and the miscarriages that i have a 70% chance of a good pregnancy still- i have to admit i hate percentages i always seem to play the crappy odds whenever anyone tells me!
i didnt really expect to much of that appointment but least it has started the ball rolling, 3 months is such a long time to wait for the results though that takes me up to nov, which is the due date for our last miscarriage! horrible irony!
plus what i forgot to say as well, where we had our appointment was in the anenatal part of the hospital in a little room, they dont really seem to think things through sometimes and had to wait to have our bloods done with all the other pregnant women there as well, it was bumps galore! i wasnt actually that bad that day, it wasnt the best, but i hope its not the same place to get the results, i cant imagine getting bad news about something and having to face all those pregnant ladies outside, that would just hurt too much!
anyway it goes to the back of my head again for another 3 months until i have to deal with it then.
How is everyone else on here as well?0
