Hope you have a lovely weekend. Sorry to hear that you've still got that cold - I'm expecting to get one too after 2 x 10.5 hour flights this week
Take care,
MWCx
Thanks MWC. I hope you escape this time - it's just wrong getting a cold in the summer time. There should be a law against it :rotfl:

Glad you had a lovely holiday in Madeira. I went for the day when I was on a cruise and would love to go for longer. Did you go on the basket ride?
Hope that cold has gone now, pesky thing!
Have a wonderful week
Hello Ena - nice to see you. Yes we did do the basket ride - brilliant! I'd definitely recommend the Porto Mare Hotel if you do go back. We met lots of people from other hotels whilst we were there and they were all envious of our facilities.
Cold seems to be abating (touch wood).

but not quite gone yet. The aeroplane cold is still hanging on but I do feel slightly better today. And that's despite having an ickle hangover this morning
Thanks everyone for the well wishes.
We didn't go to Chatham in the end as Mr F was invited to go and watch rugby at the Club with the boys. We did, however, go to the neighbours barbeque where we ate delicious food and drank far too much! We took a bottle of wine from the rack - only 1 left in there now  and some beers for Mr F which I'd bought with the food shopping this week. I also made a blue cheese and walnut salad to take over made with leaves from the garden of course
I managed to recover sufficiently to visit the garden centre this afternoon. I've planted out three different types of lettuce as the existing lettuce has started bolting and won't last much longer. Also some swede which I haven't tried growing before. Dug out the coriander. Not sure I'll plant this next year as you don't get much out of a plant before it starts bolting. And sowed some spinach. Did some general weeding and tidying too and noticed that the round courgette plant has floweredI can see the beginning of the little round courgettes starting. Mr F bought some wood stain for the back fence. This was one that the neighbours replaced but they ran out of stain half way through so we've had to tidy it up. £20.97 total spend today which I'll take out of the entertainment budget as we haven't spent any of that this weekend.
I have mountains of washing, ironing, housework and admin work to do this week as I'm all behind because of the cold. That can wait until tomorrow though - I'm off now to make a Chorizo Pasta Bake for supper.
Have a fabulous evening all

Well actually I do... but more of that later.
Definitely got my mojo back today:- 3 loads of washing done and line dried
- living room and dining room cleaned so I'm not quite so embarrassed to invite people in now
- 1 basket of ironing done
- an hour's admin work
- a 5p Tillytidy
- 43p to Mr Marmite
- several giant papier mache bones created :rotfl:
Mr F is on his way home. We're having the other half of the Chorizo Pasta Bake for supper so no cooking to be done.
Right, let's get the last of the washing in.
See you later

Another day spent catching up:
- a further washing load done but drying inside as it's raining here
- downstairs loo and kitchen given a thorough clean
- weekly shop done - should be about £12 under budget
- an hour's admin work completed
- a 50p Tillytidy
- accidentally ordered 24 bottles of wine . Well, it was no accident really. I worked out it was a pound a bottle cheaper to buy two cases instead of one and the wine rack is looking very empty at the moment. I will only put one case out at a time so we don't get carried away
Ordered through Mr F's executive membership so we get two free bottles and negotiated free delivery too.
Happy Tuesday everyone

Temptation lurks there and I succumbed
- parking £4.00
- coffee and cake to start £4.60 (personal spends)
- 2 tops in the Laura Ashley sale - £38.00 (reduced from £70). That will be from my personal spends too.
- deposit at the picture framers - £47.00
- new doorbell - £38.99
- smoked haddock risotto lunch, a glass of prosecco and a cappuccino - £21.00 (also personal spends)
When we were in Madeira we bought 3 paintings by local artists. Framing them is going to cost £97 which is more than the cost of the paintings themselves .
The doorbell has one plug-in and one portable speaker so that we can hear it from upstairs, downstairs and in the garden. I could have got one for about half the price but the range was much less and I wasn't sure it would be enough. Also, there wasn't much choice on the chimes and I didn't fancy listening to "She'll be coming round the mountain" every time someone came to the door :rotfl:
So very extravagant, particularly after my accidental spend on wine yesterday.
Time to reign things in I think

ooo, was tempted to have a look at Laura Ashley online there but I don't need any more clothes (probably ever):o
The framing isn't too bad for 3 frames especially if it's something that'll make you smile whenever you see them and bring back lovely memories.Mortgage OP 2025 £6000/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

You're very kind Skint Spice. I tried on one of the tops before we went on holiday but I didn't buy it because I thought it a bit steep at £35.00 (it's a posh T-shirt really). However, I wish I had bought it rather than the cheapo ones I bought in M&S instead. They're ok but not the most flattering fit so have been relegated to bumming around the house gear already. False economy
When we first moved into the house we said we wouldn't buy any pictures or ornaments but collect these on our travels together. These are the first pictures we've bought and, you're right, they'll always remind us of the lovely time we had. After I bought one of the pictures the artist confessed that he uses any profits to help feed the children in his village. He is an ex-pat and lives off his pension. Painting is a hobby for him and, as unemployment is currently at 17% on the island, he knows a lot of people who need a bit of extra help right now.
