Details of Bluewater Gate coming up. It's never as bad as I think when I write it down so I hope that applies this time.

    General MS:
    • Mr F's pay day yesterday so did the monthly money shuffle
    • no money for saving sadly but we have managed quite a lot of additional costs this month:
      • £128 professional subscription cost for Mr F (he'd forgotten to tell me about this one so it wasn't budgeted for)
      • £129 servicing costs for both the Landies
      • paid for the holiday in full - £1250
      • paid the remaining cost for the landing curtains - £244.08
      • bought the extra brass curtain rings for the dining room - £95
      • budgeted for picture framing - £53.10
      • bought a new dress shirt and cumberband for Mr F for the ball on Saturday - £63.50 (went through TCB)
      • filled the wine rack - £100.86
      • got Mr F's dinner suit and a few other items dry cleaned - £36.83
      • OP'd £79.98 - didn't realise I was only 2p short of a round number! Booger.
Blimey! Some loaves but a great deal more lillies this month. Happy with the home improvement stuff as this is one of our goals. I've only included things that weren't budgeted for and nothing covered by our personal spends. However, looking at the whole picture I can see we've spent a lot on clothes this month. No wonder there's nothing left for saving.

    Then of course, there's Bluewater:
    • I drove which works out about £13 for the trip
    • DC bought coffee and snacks when we arrived
    • found a fab strapless bra so I can wear an existing dress to the ball on Saturday - £36.00. Did shop around as far as I could but couldn't find it cheaper elsewhere
    • replaced 1 C1n1qu£ product which I'm almost out of and bought a new lipstick which wasn't needed but entitled me to the bonus gift which I can sell on Fleabay to cover the cost
    • went to Av£da to get the conditioner and shine spray I've run out of - £36.50 and I used a £10 Hous£ of Fra$£r voucher I'd earn't doing surveys. I've been trying alternatives and to use up other products I have but my hair has been getting really tatty and flyaway. DC had her makeup done free and I got a free hand and arm massage whilst waiting. We got a free detox tea as well
    • we both signed up to a special event Av£da are having on Saturday. Cut and blow dry for £40 and you can then redeem that £40 against products on the day. Even with the fuel cost of going back that's a much better deal than my current hairdresser and I'd intended to book for next week anyway
    • lunch at Caf£ R0ug£. I'd looked up the restaurant beforehand to see who had the best deal. They had 40% off food plus I had a £10 Le1sur£ Voucher to use. We had a glass of bubbly, a main and a desert and paid £10 each on top of the voucher
    • £15 for a necklace to wear on Saturday
Ouch! It is as bad as I thought. But, if I had the chance to go back and change things, the only thing I wouldn't buy would be the shine spray and only because I think it might make my hair a bit greasy. So that's my personal spends exhausted for this month and it's only the 1st! My bad.

March's pay day should see a nice chunk going into savings as we don't have many big extraordinary costs. Mr F and I both have birthdays but I'm going to try and be a bit more frugal about those.

Feels like the money has gone a long way this month even if most of it has been spent on lillies. Hopefully, I'll be a bit more thoughtful about March's spends.

... £155 :o But pales into insignificance against the rest of this month's spends :o

I know, it's money we've got and we're not getting into debt but I it doesn't feel quite right now I'm more MS aware. Going to give that some thought.

    Just remembered...
    • got free travel size shampoos and conditioner to wash my hair with before going to Av£da - worth £9.75
    • did take some money out of the savings to help pay for the holiday
    • Cl1n1qu£ lipstick will have to go back. It's full of bits of glitter and it's making my lips sore.
I was feeling really tired and demotivated this morning and then realised I hadn't taken any thyroxine yesterday  so it's no wonder. Have also thought about what I would say to someone else in my position on the forum:

It's your money which you have earnt through your own work so don't feel guilty about spending it. You don't have any debts apart from your mortgage and it's your choice to overpay. Don't worry about posting honestly on the forum. The forum is for everyone whatever their situation so use it how it best helps you to stay on track with money saving. It's ok to have a splurge every now and then. Enjoy your good fortune while it lasts and find ways to help others who aren't so lucky.

There - that's me given a good talking to. I will stop feeling guilty about these good times. I will enjoy them as they may not last for ever. Still - it's an NSD for me today.

Hi Megela. I worry about upsetting people who are struggling financially when I write about my indulgences. But then no one has to read about them I suppose. As long as we're not hurting anybody (including ourselves) then there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for dropping by Barbeduk. Feebies sell well on Fleaby - I always manage to get the cost of the 2nd product back.
