Hiya Fortune - quick question - the green lentils in the chilli - do you use dried lentils or tinned lentils?

    Thanks, L xx

Well it wasn't any accident really. Yes, I've done it. A week in Madeira in June. However, there were some MS concessions. Mr F and I don't go on holiday every year but when we do go we usually pull out all the stops; 10 to 14 days, long haul, top hotel and best rooms, etc. This time we are going for 7 days. Mr F will still book two weeks off work but we'll have a few days either side of the holiday at home. So that was a saving of about £800. Went for a very good hotel but not the best and even with a super duper room that saved £550. So I'm happy that we'll have a luxurious relaxing break but it won't break the bank. I've had to raid the savings to pay for it but I'm hoping we can get that back above pre-christmas levels by end April. It will be soooo good to get some sun. Could have been worse - I could have accidentally bought a house, eh Gally :rotfl:

Don't drag me into it :rotfl:. You won't get me telling you off for booking a holiday as that's the one luxury I won't give up :o. Well, when I say one.........:o. Ours are not dear though as Mr GG won't go anywhere he has to wear long trousers .

    Hotel looks fab :j.

    .

Totally agree with Mr GG - when on holiday you want to be able to relax and be comfy. I hate places that have a dress code. Although I'd happily be anywhere that bans football shirts and three qtr length trousers on men - sorry, I know I'm going to be offending someone out there, but I have a hate thing about three qtr length trousers and football shirts........

3/4 length ok as long as not matched with a football shirt. Football shirts just about allowable if you are going to a match*, or if you are Mr Beckham, otherwise no.

    * even then, not so sure. Why wear them? Just in case they need to pull you out of the crowd to play?

Dried lentils in this one Lulabelle as there's plenty of cooking time.

I don't want to eat anywhere where men can take their shirts off - urgh who wants to have to stare at someone's moobs over breakfast :rotfl:

    Super, thanks Fortune....

No, me neither - shirts on please.

Actually that brings me on another pet hate/observation..... Why do British men (I'm British so can say this!) feel the need to remove their tops and walk around the streets as soon as the temperature exceeds 17 degrees?
  • Long lost DC came to stay last night as Mr F was away with work. I cooked dinner - Tuna Pesto Pasta Bake followed by Lemon Curd Fool with Summer Berries and Almond Thins. Washed everything down with a bottle of white and a damson gin whilst chatting and watching TV. Lovely evening but a late one as we didn't get to bed until mid-night  Very late for me on a school night. Plus I woke up at 2.00 am feeling very hot - perhaps it's time to ditch the fleecy pyjama tops :rotfl:

We were invited to join some friends for a walk this morning with the Ramblers' Association. Beautiful walk but bracing (that might be an understatement) and we were the youngest there by about 20 years :rotfl:What's worse is that I thoroughly enjoyed it and am thinking about joining :o Am I old before my time? We went to a village pub for lunch after and DC picked up the bill as I paid last time :) I drove but the friends will drive next time.

    MS news:
    • Zumba yesterday
    • popped into the village after to post a Fleabay item and get stamps
    • went to the local shop to get some cheese for the pasta supper. Accidentally bought two Caramel Snick£r$ bars whilst I was there and accidentally ate them both in the car before I got home :o
    • filled up with fuel - £60
    • one of my Fleabay items has a bid of £40 and 22 watchers :T
    • just won an auction for some M&S Palazzo trousers on Fleabay. They were in the shop last summer and I was very tempted to get them but decided I didn't need them. Now with a holiday in mind they are just the thing - £8.49 inc postage.
The wind has picked up now and it's freezing outside. I'm exhausted after the late/disturbed night and long walk. Is it wrong to go to bed at 5.00 pm? There's a hot water bottle somewhere with my name on it :rotfl:
