  • Today has felt like a re-run of yesterday with some minor variations. Mr F was in the garage all morning again but this time assisted by builder friend. He finished the Disco service and did a few essential repairs on builder friend's Defender too. Mr F thinks he's saved him about £400 so far so I'm hoping that helps them out a bit.

This afternoon was spent suffering another game of rugby. Mr F consumed less beer this time though - he drank most of it yesterday :rotfl:

    MS:
    • reconciled the bank accounts - all balanced :)
    • Waitr0$£ delivered - £6.61 under budget. Was given 2 packets of 250g Proscuitto Cappelletti (£4.18) instead of the 500g Gnocchi (£1.60) I'd ordered. Worked out I'll be able to get 3 meals out of them instead of 1 as a result :T
    • a cupboard lunch for 3 (builder friend was still here)
    • bought travel insurance for our holiday through the AA. 20.2% cashback through TCB plus 10% discount as a member :T
    • put some clothes, DVDs and CDs through Mu$1c Magpi£. Should get £9.04 for those. It's the first time I've used them so I hope all goes well
    • quite insulted when Mu$1c Magpi£ rejected some of my clothes and CDs - they've got no taste :rotfl:I've packaged the rejects up for taking to the charity shop on Tuesday
    • 7 out of my 8 Fleabay items have sold and I should make about £125 once all the fees have been deducted. Good job because...
    • the claim for my admin job is due to be paid tomorrow. I checked my bank account on line as sometimes the money comes through a day early. £18 odd has been deposited - that's about £140 down on the claim amount  I'll wait and see whether anything else goes in tomorrow but it looks like they've c0ck£d up again
    • listed another 4 Fleabay items tonight
    • made the Baked Gnocchi with Creamy Spinach and Sun-dried tomatos with some of the Cappelletti. Turned out well.
I've had a lazy weekend really. Should have done some work for my admin job and lots of other personal paperwork and have done nada. Lots of catching up to do this week - best I fortify myself with the rest of that bottle of red :rotfl:

Enjoy what's left of the weekend

  • Caught up on some of my paperwork today. It's amazing how much admin 2 people and a house can rack up!

    On the MS front:
    • Step class this morning
    • a cupboard lunch
    • 7 out of my 8 Fleabay items sold :j so I packaged everything up for taking to the P0st 0ffic£ tomorrow. Everyone has paid up so I've transferred the money into the household account. It'll be about £115 net which will help to cover...
    • the shortfall in my admin claim  I think they have only paid me for the holiday pay component of my claim and not for any of the hours I've actually worked. I'm going into the office tomorrow so will sort it out then
    • put together the next claim for the admin job. This will cover the remaining cost of the landing curtains (when they eventually pay it) which is great because I got a call today to say they are ready :j. I'll pick them up tomorrow when I'm in town
    • wrote to M&S outlet about the jogging bottoms masquerading as a fleece pyjama top I returned - I've not had the refund yet
    • also wrote to Wa1tr0$£ about 2 refunds on returned substitutions I'm still waiting for
    • Sausage and Mustard Mash with mixed veg planned for supper tonight
    • will do some more admin work tonight whilst Mr F is in command of the remote
I did some comping yesterday. I did quite a lot last year but have just got out of the habit. Had a few wins. Nothing major but it was nice to get a surprise every now and then. I'm going to try to do half an hour or so a day and see whether fortune smiles on me. I have just as much fun dreaming about winning as I do actually winning :rotfl:

loving your diary and it just sounds so uplifting! Will follow with interest (of the non-monetary variety of course - lol!).
Hoping to make inroads on our mortgage and need to get DH on board... Like yours, he doesnt like to feel nagged, so I may give him the challenge of managing the grocery budget (he does the shopping as is fairly home-based whereas I go out and am the main breadwinner). Will see how that works!! I am sure once he sees the difference it can make, he'll be sweet....

Thank you mrsdee. It's so exciting when someone pops up to say hello or appears in the 'Thanked' list. I think my life is quite ordinary so am amazed and pleased that people take the time to read about my routine. It spurs me on. Life is being very kind to me at the moment - all my troubles are little ones.

Mr F leaves all things financial to me. He's perfectly capable of doing it but finds it boring and doesn't do delayed gratification well :rotfl:Fine with me as I much prefer to be in control of the money. Well done on your progress - looks like you're doing really well. I'll look forward to hearing about OH and the grocery challenge!

Hello Mrs MP - I'm subscribed to you too :). I am motivated but not always in the right direction - chocolate, wine, too many lillies and not enough loaves :o Keeping the diary is good for me as it makes me very aware of what I'm spending and how I'm living my life. I can see if I'm tipping over too far in one direction and keep count of my blessings. One of my favourite sayings is:

"Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes of which all men have some." Charles Dickens

Someone at work called me Pollyanna once (and it wasn't meant to be a compliment) - but I hope I'm not quite that sickly :p

Thanks beanie. I think we all get our share of good and bad luck in life. I'm very grateful that it's my turn for some of the good right now - long may it last!

I too find your diary interesting and motivational. You write really well.
  • ... to buy curtains :j Picked them up today and hung them this afternoon. They are perfect. Sooo pleased I held out for the fabric I really wanted.

    In other MS news:
    • a couple of hours admin in the office today
    • checked my last claim. They had to use a new system this month apparently and entered the hours I was claiming for rather than the amount I was claiming for. The info goes to an outsourced service so, as it's a mistake our end, I have to wait until March to get the rest of it
    • put in my next claim which will be paid in March so that will be a bumper month :j
    • popped into the market town after; took the bottles for recycling - there's always rather a lot of them I'm afraid to say :o
    • took the Mus1c Magp1£ rejects to the charity shop
    • posted the Fleabay items
    • hand delivered a letter to save the cost of a stamp :rotfl:
    • took some dry cleaning in and picked some up - £36.83  Mr F's dinner suit for Saturday, a pair of his suit trousers, a jumper and a tie. So expensive
    • popped into the C0-0p to pick up a few bits that I can't get from Waitr0$£
    • a cupboard lunch
    • Bean and Vegetable Stew with Cheesey, Herby Dumplings from the meal plan for supper tonight - yum!
The Fortunate Cat is in for a shock tonight. For the last 5 years or so she's slept in my arms each night. However, now she's getting older she gets up more in the night and disturbs Mr F when she jumps on him to get back in bed. She's also started racing round the house at 3.00 am each night. Mr F doesn't sleep well anyway and he's getting a bit fed up with her. So tonight we're going to try leaving her downstairs in her basket in the living room. You'll probably be able to hear her from where you are!

    Sleep tight

  • Yes the Fortunate Cat survived the night none the worse for wear. I thought I could hear her scratching the kitchen door when we first went to bed and there is some evidence of that this morning but only minor. So she must have got fed up quite quickly and gone to sleep. I have to say that both Mr F and I got a really good night's sleep so I think she's been disturbing us more than I realised. She'll be sleeping downstairs from now on.

Not much on the MS front:
    • Zumba this morning
    • lovely £15 off Waitr0$£ voucher arrived in the post. I'd normally OP this but, as I didn't get paid much this month, I think I'll leave it in the current a/c for now
    • a cupboard lunch
    • went over to a neighbour's this afternoon for a quick cup of coffee and stayed all afternoon chatting :o
    • Salmon and Noodle Parcels from the meal plan for supper tonight
I need to do some admin work this evening so will do that after supper when Mr F is in control of the remote :p

    Have good evening all
