Ah fortune, I had actually forgotten how much I love reading your diary. You always cheer me up and have made my Saturday morning (it's very dreecht in Schortio Scotland today).

    Enjoy Landan baby:D

Lovely, lovely lunch with friends today:
    • £3 parking for the day
    • £3.60 for a coffee, a packet of crisps and a packet of chewing gum at the station
    • £14.50 return to Charing Cross
    • 89p for another packet of chewing gum to get change for the loo (the change machine was empty). 30p to spend a penny - that's inflation for you
    • went into several shops on the way to Covent Garden and didn't buy a thing :A (not even in Hobbs or LK Bennett Lula)
    • a 3 course lunch with coffee and a glass of Pro$£cco - £25. 50% off the food as booked through T0p Tabl£
    • 90p for a paper to read on the way home
Not as MS or as bad as it could have been.

I was washing my hands after an expensive wee at Charing Cross when I noticed a very groomed looking lady with fabulous red hair. Really glossy and poker straight. She stood next to me at the mirror to apply some lipstick and I just had to say "Your hair is really beautiful". As the words were coming out of my mouth I realised she was a man. Being a very open minded person this didn't worry me at all. What worried me is I'm now so old and blind I can't recognise a wig when I see one  I hope she didn't think I was being sarcastic - her hair really did look beautiful.

Clever Mr F helped me put the extra curtain rings up on the dining room curtains poles today. And he fitted the brass hold backs too. He's done a fabulous job and the dining room looks poperly dressed now.

    Other MS activity:
    • a cupboard lunch
    • a few hours admin work this afternoon
    • 34p Tillytidy OP'd
    • 27p found to feed Mr Marmite
    • Roasted Tomato Pasta with Chilli and Capers from the meal plan for supper tonight
    • a bit of comping whilst suffering T0p G£ar (yes, Mr F in charge of the remote again)
I'm going into the office tomorrow as we have an audit so that will be a few more hours to claim. It's all adding up :T January's and February's claim went towards the landing curtains so what shall I do with March's?

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums

...and it was a shock to the system I can tell you  There was an audit today which was supposed to involve me and the Finance Officer. Unfortunately the FO called in sick so it was just down to me. Not only did it turn out to be a full day's work but a very intensive one too! I am soooo out of practice. Worth it though as March's claim is looking to be a bumper one and they need me in tomorrow as well :)

    Other MS:
    • bought a fascinator from H0bb$ 0utl£t - £14.00 plus £4.00 p&p but reduced from £49 :) I've been looking for a navy and white fascinator to go with an existing outfit so I can wear it to the Chelsea Pensioners' Founder's Day in June. I'm all set now except for a handbag
    • took a packed lunch to the office
    • used up some of this week's Lentil Chilli in fajitas for supper. I wasn't expecting to cook as Mr F thought he'd be home very late. He left early to avoid the snow so I had to whip up something quickly for supper. We both got home just in time tonight as it is snowing and blowing a gale now.
Not much else to report as I've been tied up in the office today.

    Stay warm everyone

    Hi FS

Great to catch up on your diary. Love to hear about all your trips and general goings on!! As others have said this is not about 'not offending others' but being honest in what you spend your money on..I, for example, am obsessive about shopping locally and organically so I know I could sometimes save money by shopping differently but it matters to me and my values that I shop in the way I do.

The point for me is that you are thoughtful with your spends and you care about what you buy.

Have a good eve, it's well chilly here too!

Thanks Brizzle. I have stopped feeling guilty now - it is, after all, money we have earned and it's up to us how we spend it.

Brrrrrr. I know I went to sleep last night in the Garden of England but I seem to have woken up at the North Pole this morning! Blizzard conditions here.

    Chilly MS:
    • unfortunately I had to brave the weather to go to the office. Auditor didn't make it though so only a few hours, but... they need me again tomorrow :T
    • popped into a neighbour's on the way home and they made me lunch :)
    • booked the Fortunate Cat into the vets for booster jabs and an annual check up. Responded to the reminder text which gives me a £7 discount
    • booked my next hair appointment with usual hairdresser under the new terms
    • shopped on-line for prospective DDIL2's birthday. Tricky because she is a twin and they are having a joint party  So two presents to find. Settled for some luxurious 0rgan1c$ products in the end as 33% off at D£b£nham$. £72.99's worth for £52.35 and free delivery :) Was tempted to get some for me too ... but resisted :A
    • asked DS2 to book us in at his friends Gastro Pub - mate's rates so £158 for two nights. It's only a couple of minutes walk from the house. They have a house full already for the night of the party and, tbh, we'd prefer to be able to leave when we're ready
    • a cupboard supper - Mr F has been called out to rescue stranded Landies and will be eating on the road
    Double duvets this evening peeps!
