Absolutely - a lot more! I'm sure you can keep chickens far more cheaply but we went for a huge, gucci, coop with covered run and raised them organically as we eat as organically as we can. The eggs were really lovely though.

We can't be far apart location wise ( Bluewater shopping ).
I am going to put BBC good food to the test as your meals sound really yummy and with more time I really need to stop doing easy freezer fast food so much.

Hello Mint
thank you for joining me. I luuuurve BBC G00d F00d - so many recipes and lots and lots of user reviews and tips too. I really enjoy cooking and find it quite meditative so that helps. Don't worry if it takes a while to get used to things. It was a whole year before I stopped getting that guilty 'I'm playing truant' feeling. It's still hard to get into any sort of routine as Mr F is away a lot. It's like anything really - pros and cons.
Keep in touch

I didn't sleep very well last night. The chicken coop is at the side of the house below my bedroom window. I suppose I must be used to thinking about them cuddled up together there, gently snoring the night away and I could feel their absence. Each time I passed a window today I looked out as usual to check on them. I'll get used to it I'm sure and it was the right decision. They seem happy in their new home. My friend is posting regular updates for me and is delighted that they have all layed for her today.
MS news:- attended a meeting for my admin job this morning. They have budgeted for some more of my time as there is an extra project coming up
- cupboard lunch and dinner today as Mr F won't be home again now until Friday
- did the Waitr0$£ online shop. Should come in a couple of pounds under budget. Mr F is at home most of next week so had to restock on lunch box items (little chocolate pumpkins, etc
)
- made a social faux pas - the 50th birthday party and the Halloween party are on the same night! Oh well - not so hard on the entertainment budget I suppose
- we've been invited to a neighbours for a cheese and wine party on Saturday. Added the ingredients for Dates stuffed with Blue Cheese & Pecans plus Nigella'$ Spiced nuts to the Waitr0$£ shop so we can take some nibbles over and Avi0$ will be providing the wine as usual :rotfl:
- I've decided to follow Tilly's good example on OPing only my payments will be going to the savings initially. If my food shopping comes in under budget I'll put the remainder straight into the savings.
Have a good evening

Good fun at the Handbag Party and got some Christmas shopping done too
.
We are going to use some of Mr F's Avi0$ points to buy a Couples Gift Experience for the boys and their girlfriends (that will save us about £200). I've budgeted a further £50 - £55 for each of them so they have a few things to open. I was thinking 3 presents at around the £15 mark and a couple of fun £5ish small things. There were some fabulous Italian leather handbags at the party which I'm sure the girls would love but they were £27 each so too much really. However... the hostess ran a draw. Everyone paid £2 for a number and the winning number could use the money to buy something from the party and yes - I won! :j £24 - so I got two of the handbags for £32 including the price of the ticket. £16 each so within the budget.
I also treated myself to a new leather purse (mine is so old and stretched now it keeps coming open in my handbag) - £19.50. One of the other ladies at the party had exactly the same purse which she had bought in town for £26. And I bought another leather purse which is the perfect size for discretely carrying essentials lady things- £12.50.
Saw my friend who adopted the chickens - they are getting on well and have all layed again for her today so can't be that worried about the change. I'm starting to feel better about them now.
Also saw the friend who's holding the Halloween party and gave our apologies. Sorry not to have the chance to dress up this year but it will save us about £20 in costume costs.
So a much needed day of lillies. Now I need to get on with some Fleabaying and recoup some costs!
