  • Only coffee is particularly bad for me as I get terrific caffeine withdrawal if I don't drink it or have less in a day than usual. I gave it up for years but have drifted back into drinking 3 to 5 cups a day. Inspired by Rainbow Bridge I thought it was time for a detox. So cold turkey on the coffee yesterday. Got away quite lightly this time though - migraine from about 2 pm to bedtime but it could have lasted 3 days. Feeling much lighter today so I think the worst is over. I'm also going to take much more care with my diet. All those treats I've been buying for Mr F's lunch box - well they're made for sharing :o

    So, MS wise:
    • cut down significantly on coffee costs
    • cut down significantly on lunch box costs
    • eating more healthily will give me more energy for my MS efforts
    • went to Step class. As a member I can book two weeks in advance and I find I'm far more likely to go if I'm booked in. Quite proud of myself on this one actually as I've been really good at going. The Zumba teacher has started so I'll be up to 3 times a week next week.
    • £1.31 from £C0 - soon be a millionaire at this rate :rotfl:
    • renewal premium for house insurance arrived. You may recall I negotiated this down by £100 a couple of months ago so I'm a bit surprised to see an increase on the premium again. Will have to do some research
    • heating hasn't gone on yet but we have had the log burner going a few times. The forecast says it's going to get much colder soon so I'll have to see how long we can hold out.
Miss S is much the same although I did manage to get her to take her medicine mixed with some yoghurt and oats. Much less stressful for both of us.

Hope you all have a great weekend

  • I like my coffee like my men - rich and dark

  • Sadly Rainbow, Mr F used to be dark but is now severely follicly challenged :rotfl:

Went with a friend to Battle yesterday. She takes her DD2 for tutoring there in the afternoon so has a couple of hours to kill before she can pick her up. We had a little mooch around the shops and a hot chocolate at the deli (no coffee for me :)). Only bought some cherry tomatos to bolster my salad lunches this week :A plus a birthday card for Mr F which was too appropriate to pass by. As both her DH and Mr F were away for the night (Mr F is doing the London to Brighton Landy run) we decided to make a night of it. She'd paid for fuel and parking in Battle so I provided the makings for supper and we popped into T£$c0 on the way home to pick up pudding. I helped her DD's to make supper - Chorizo Pilaf - and we spent the evening drinking wine and watching the last Harry P0tt£r film.

    So MS (not):
    • cherry tomatos - £1.49
    • birthday card - £2.20
    • hot chocolate - £2.40
    • Chorizo Pilaf - no cost as from this weeks meal plan and Mr F forgot to tell me he is away Monday and Tuesday next week
    • Victoria Sponge (her DD2's choice) and Rhubarb Crumble (her DD1's choice) - £4.39
    • bottle of Pinot - no cost as provided by neighbour
So no MS at all really. Still not bad for a lovely day out. I may do better today as my Fleabay items are ending. Some have bids already and most have watchers so fingers crossed.

No improvement for Miss S Hen although she is walking a little better.

I'm definately feeling better for stopping the coffee and eating more fruit and veg - long may it continue.

    Happy Sunday everyone

  • What a grey and miserable day. Braved the weather so MS so far:
    • saw Mr F off to work. He now says he will only be away this evening :)
    • Step class. Blimming hard work but I think I'm improving a little each time - would be good to see some results though :(
    • popped into the market town to post my Fleabay sales - should net about £100 this time :j Will help offset the vet fees and might even be a little left over to go towards my curtain rings. I've some items to relist plus some new things too but all quite low value. Might be a case of quantity rather than quality :rotfl:
    • ordered another crate of wine courtesy of Avi0$ :o
    • checked the savings account and DSS2's £40 repayment DD has gone through - can't quite believe it but it definately was there :rotfl:
    • a tuna salad lunch :A
    • made a Ratatouille Hotpot for dinner last night from the meal plan - plenty left over for me tonight so a day off from cooking :j
I think Miss S Hen has started eating again! Is this the start of a miraculous recovery? Just when I'd given up hope. That's chickens for you. I'm seriously considering rehoming my flock now - not sure I can cope with all the drama.

DSS1 is coming home for the weekend on Friday so I've lots of housework to get done beforehand. He is built like an American Football player and has a very healthy appetite so the food bill may be high this time. However, Mr F will be away for most of next week so that should offset the costs a little.

I made my first Christmas purchase yesterday. Each year we buy just one new decoration for the tree. It represents something that's happened or we've achieved over the year so I have a little bird house for the year we moved in, a silver bell engraved with the year of our wedding and a little, green, knitted chicken for when the Fortunate hens arrived. This year, the biggest event for us was the building of the garage. I didn't really want to hang a garage on the tree so I have settled for a handblown glass Land R0v£r in the same green as Mr F's truck. £15 so not cheap but we only buy the one... except... I thought it would be nice to buy each of the boys one too. Anyhoo, £45 spent but at least my Christmas shopping has started! :rotfl:

  • My Landy tree decorations arrived today. They are really lovely - beautifully made and packaged in little, wooden boxes. I thought I'd take a leaf out of Tilly's book and start wrapping as the presents arrive. I've lots of wrapping paper and tags from previous years so will try to use those up before buying any more.

    MS today:
    • some admin work achieved this morning
    • 65p for Mr Marmite
    • a cupboard lunch
    • an afternoon of dusting
    • Mushroom & Bacon Pasta from the dinner plan for dinner tonight
    • another Fleabay payment banked
    • did the Waitr04£ shop - should come in about £5 under budget despite shopping for DSS1 this weekend :T
    • Miss S is still hanging in there
Off to do some more Christmas shopping now - there's no stopping me once I get started!

  • Yep - more dusting today. Move over Kim and Aggie :rotfl:

    MS activity:
    • Zumba class this morning. Really good fun.
    • popped into the market town after to post another Fleabay item
    • picked up some courgettes for tonight's dinner. Mr F originally said he'd be away this evening so I hadn't got anything planned. Decided on Courgette Carbonara as I had all the other ingredients - we might be eating a lot of pasta this week :rotfl:
    • window cleaner arrived this afternoon so gave him a cheque for this month and last month (hadn't got round to paying him :o)
    • Mr F has been given the go ahead to order his new company car so an evening of checking the tax implications is on the cards.
No change with Miss S Hen. She's not getting any worse but she's not getting any better either. This is the second week of medicine so if it's not doing the job by now I don't hold out much hope. I'm thinking of finishing the course and taking her back to the vet on Monday to see what he says. Thank you everyone for wishing her well.

Into battle now with Mr F - not sure MS applies to cars on his planet :rotfl:
