Friend arrived to pick up the Fortunate Hens today. A bit quick I know but she was very keen to come get them and I figured if I was sad about 1 hen I might as well be sad about 5. Miss E was pining for Miss S as well so a change of scene and some new company (my friend has two other hens already) will help. It also means I won't have to buy any more food as they were getting to the bottom of the last lot.

Not having the hens will save us some money so that and today's other MS:
    • no need to order chicken feed this week - a saving of £19.40
    • no need to replace the woodchip in the run which was due this month - a saving of £81.70
    • and probably another £5 or so savings in cabbages/treats
    • I have a very expensive treadle feeder for the chickens which I'd planned to Fleabay. However, when my friend saw it she offered to buy it so that's an extra £50 for the savings this month
    • Cheesy Leek & Bacon Pasta from the meal plan for dinner tonight
    • a PAD of 69p to the savings account
I looked into selling the coop and run on Fleabay but they're not going for much and it's a big job to dismantle it so I've offered it to my builder. He started keeping chickens this year and I have been helping him with them. He is happy to dismantle it and take it away and is likely to give us a discount on future work in return.

So just me and the Fortunate Cat until Mr F gets home.
