  • ... for a fab night out is a very unproductive Sunday. We had a lovely indian meal with our neighbours. 4 courses and lashes of wine and we didn't pay a penny. We were both a bit hungover on Sunday morning though.

    A little MS still occured:
    • Mr F completed the work on my Landy - £40 for parts but it would have cost us a few hundred if we'd had to take it to the garage. He is a clever husband. I will be driving it to Step class this morning so hopefully will be able to see the difference
    • 1kg of sloes donated by neighbours (still not up to your immense foraging standards though MWC)
    • filled my Landy up with fuel - £54:eek: It does last me for about six weeks though.
    • ate up the last of the Rhubarb & Pear Crumble (I think it helped with the hangover :rotfl:)
    • easy cupboard meals as I couldn't face cooking
    • managed to get a third dose of medicine into Miss S Hen
    • no bids on my Fleabay items yet
So key things to achieve today:
    • See Mr F off to work - I get up with him to cook breakfast, pack him a lunch and make sure he's pressed and polished before he leaves
    • Step class - missed Fridays as had to take Miss S Hen to the vets
    • give medicine to the hens
    • clean the living room
    • ironing (have got Downton to catch up on :))
    • prepare dinner for when Mr F returns
I usually have a few key things to achieve each day. If I do more, I do more, but I hate putting a list together and not getting to the end so I start with the most pressing.

I'll let you know how I get on.

I had help from my dad... and he knows all the best picking places!

I made 2 batches of hedgerow jelly yesterday evening... neither of which have set  so tonight I will be emptying out 16 jars and boiling it up again... this time I'll be using an old-fashioned method of testing setting point rather than my digital thermometer!

  • Got all my jobs for the day done plus did another batch of filing. I am getting there slowly with the paperwork - nothing has been added to the pile and it actually fits (just) in the filing tray now. Previously there was a danger of it falling over onto an unsuspecting not so Fortunate Cat :rotfl:

    A little MS today:
    • £25 $ain$bury$ gift card arrived from BT. Might use that to buy gin (I don't like tea :rotfl:). Need to make the sloe gin soon otherwise it won't be ready by Christmas
    • an NSD
    • the last of the courgettes from the garden in a Baked Courgette, Lemon & Basil Risotto. It was supposed to be a Butternut Squash & Sage Risotto but Waitr0$£ didn't have any butternut squash this week
    • Mr F voluntarily fed Mr Marmite! Wonders will never cease :rotfl:
Bit worred about Miss S Hen. She seemed worse today. Got some more medicine into her and I'll buy some natural yoghurt for her while I'm out tomorrow as that's supposed to help.

Keep your fingers crossed for her.

Any chance I might be able to get the recipie for the baked risotto.
One of my favourite yummy things is a courgette risotto but not a baked one.

    Hi Beanielou

I get most of my recipes from the BBC G00d F00d site - just put baked risotto into the search function and the courgette one should come up. I thought it looked a bit bland when I put it on the plate but it tasted delicious - I might sprinkle some lemon zest on top next time just to brighten it up. There's is no way it serves 12 though - that must be a mistake.

  • Went into town today with my neighbour - a semi-regular outing. I only needed to take the too big gym trousers back to M&S and pick up some probiotic yoghurt for Miss S Hen (it's supposed to help). Started out quite well:
    • my neighbour drove :)
    • I paid parking - £1.50 :(
    • I paid for coffee and buns when we arrived - £6.50 :(
    • my neighbour paid for a light lunch - +£4.05 :)
    • returned my too big gym trousers to M&S - +£15 :)
    • bought M&S base and top coat for my nails - £10 :(
    • I used to buy base and top coat from £lizab£eth Ard£n but they don't make it anymore so some savings there :)
    • bought yoghurt, bread and lunch box treats for Mr F in M&S - £8.55 :(
    • bought Cliniqu£ face wash and eye cream - £44 :(
    • it was Cliniqu£ bonus time so I should be able to recoup some money by selling the products I don't use on Fleabay - +£14 :)
    • spent my $ain$bury$ gifft card on groceries so that should help reduce the shopping bill this week - +£25
    • bought a new winter coat in Hobbs - £269
I know - what a shocker! It is absolutely beautiful though - raspberry pink with black buttons and 100% wool. I had planned to buy a new coat this year. My old one is from Hobbs and I love that too but I have worn it for so long it is literally falling to bits. I'm thinking of it as an investment buy and the claim for my admin work this time will cover the cost. My other MS efforts pale into insignificance against all that but ...
    • 45p for Mr Marmite
    • Salmon, Creme Fraiche, Leek, Pea & Tarragon parcels with saute potatos from the meal plan tonight
    • I'll probably make a small PAD to the savings later
Miss S Hen doesn't seem any better. I've bought her into the house to keep her warm and quiet. She tucked into the yoghurt quite enthusiastically and she is drinking so that's something. Only 2 days of medicine left and then it will be back to the vet if she doesn't improve.
