I work in the public sector, so a 1% pay rise for the next 4 years (max) is not a disaster, I know there are people far worse off than me. I'm just wondering if MPs are going to stick to the same 1% cap. Doubt it!Mortgage outstanding: [STRIKE]£47,750 (August 2014)[/STRIKE] [STRIKE][/STRIKE]£46,950 (Nov 14)[STRIKE][/STRIKE] £44,900 (June 2015)

Thank you Karma, Sassy and WishIwasstill25. The more I hear about the budget, the more I think we're all going to be worse off.

Mr F has broken my hanging basket waterer. Basically, it's a plastic beaker with a long hooked plastic straw coming out of the top. You fill it up with water, squeeze the beaker and the water travels up and out of the top of the straw. I can't reach the hanging baskets without it! Worse, you can't buy them anymore! I am bereft

Morning!
Just to let you know the budget is working for some people. My bro & his missus have 2 kids (one starts school in Sept), both work (although one on mat leave atm). They inform me they're better off thanks to the budget so obviously I expect a better birthday pressie from them in a few weeks lol. Nice to see it's helped some though.xx

I would like to understand the impact of this budget on the country as a whole. How was the budget for you? Will you be worse off or better off? If you don't mind sharing I am genuinely interested and would like to develop a more informed view.
Hi Fortune,
It's an interesting question, the only thing I've seen in the media was the story of the lady in the West Midlands who has many children (16?) who will be losing her house because the benefits are being capped at £20k.. I imagine it's the media hyping it all up as scaremongering..
Our household is much like yours I think, good for the NIC's and income tax and bad on Insurance tax. Also OH smokes and drinks, therefore, the tax will affect [STRIKE]us[/STRIKE] him there too
We have no children so none of the tax credits/child benefit/free care hours affect us.Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Thank you everyone for your budget views. I think it will be some time before we see the full impact of the decisions.
I found out yesterday, we have Little Owls at work. They are nesting in one of the ancient oaks and can be seen sitting on the grass outside the officeLittle Owls are my favourite owls.
Money Making:- took a tour out in the glorious sunshine.
- an over order on food at work meant I got a free lunch
- made fish parcels with Pak Choi, Coley, Ginger, Garlic, Chilli and Soy Sauce for supper
- the HoF website refused to let me spend any money. Very MS but I have vouchers so am I bit peeved that I cannot spend them
- cleaned our bedroom
- discovered we have a small roof leak. There's a new tell tale sign on the newly decorated living room ceiling  Mr F can fix it but we're not sure when as he's away so much at the moment. I hope it doesn't rain any time soon.
- an hour's walk on the tour
- no snacks :A
- lovely customers on the tour yesterday. It makes such a difference when people have determined to enjoy themselves
- glorious English summer days.
