You do have a point about the word "leftovers" - i'll carry on freezing what I can and keep mumWhat they dont know wont hurt them! Every penny I can save on shopping can go towards debt busting !
Hahaha - the dessert was literally "to die for" !!

I woke this morning to the sound of gentle summer rain. An overcast sky and the cooler temperature it brought made it easier to sleep later. Mr F is still in bed. He didn't get in from the concert until the early hours so I'm letting him lie in.
We were due to go out to a country show today with friends but the rain is set to last all day. The garden really needs it and it's nice to have a little break from the heat.
I'll be pleased to have a day at home to catch up on a few things. I want to start my hamper items with Bullace Gin (I have more Bullaces than Sloes in the freezer and they will make for a more unusual gift). Plus I picked the last of the rhubarb and some gooseberries on Friday and they need to be made into cake of some description before they get sulky.
I've found a great source of jars for my preserves. We sometimes provide picnic lunches at work for the tours. They include pickles which come in sweet little jars with gold lids. No labels to remove and we usually just throw them away so I've started collecting them for my produce.
I have a long list of potential recipes for the hampers now. I'm going to make herb vinegars next instead of herb oils as they keep longer. I'm thinking one of Tarragon and one of Rosemary.
Has anyone made bath bombs/oils? I might give those a go too if they're relatively easy.
So nice to sit here and have a think whilst it's quiet and still. That won't last long though, Mr F will be wanting some breakfast soon.
Hope you all have a relaxing Sunday

Delurking to say that plum chutney is lovely and a bit different, we use it instead of mango chutney with curries, naan breads etc. I think I used this recipe last time:

welcome to my (virtual) world. I won't tell Mr F about your pork joint - he'll be very jealous :rotfl:

Very, very late. Mr F didn't get up until mid-day  So we had breakfast for lunch. I suppose it's MS after a fashion.
Money Making:- received some photos for my next commission. I hope these ones print out ok, I haven't done any painting for ages and am keen to get started. I've had to order some more photographic paper for the printer as I've run out.
- made Gooseberry & Almond Streusel Squares with some gooseberries and the last of the rhubarb from the garden
- made Mary B£rry's Banana Cake and added the last of the wild strawberries from the garden
- Chorizo & Broad Bean Risotto for supper. The broad beans came in my veg box last week. Do you know this is the first time I've prepared fresh broad beans. I've used frozen in the past but never fresh. I double podded and everything
- took the Bullaces out of the freezer and they are waiting in the kitchen to be turned into gin.
- Mr F finished the brickwork for the garden butlers sink. It's a bit rustic and not entirely safe. He's going to have to make some adjustments :rotfl:
- may have eaten a small Streusel Square
Mr F is on his second but he has been for a run today.
- no need to water the garden today as nature has done it for me
- the chance to sit down. Love taking the tours at work but it does mean you are on your feet all day.
