It was the last day of School for Year 6 at my local Primary yesterday. Some of the mums invited me along to the celebrations:
- went to the Church Leavers' Service. The children sang, played instruments and talked about their School memories. The mums cried.
- came home to rustle up a contribution to the Leavers' Picnic - mini Tortilla Pizzas and Cheese Sables. The children played in the sunshine. The mums cried
- went in to watch the Leavers' Assemby. The children received lots of presents and good wishes. The mums cried.
- invited back to friends for Chilli and Prosecco in the sun. I took along a bottle of champagne for us to share as it was a special occasion - but it didn't get opened. Bit disappointed - what's the etiquette on that?

Hi Fortune!
Sounds Like you had a great day! maybe you should have taken tissues instead of wine? Maybe they would have been opened? Laugh!
I'm not sure what the etiquette is with the wine... It reminded me of a time years ago when a friend I had not seen in a long time invited me to hers for dinner, a couple of bottles of wine and a sleepover (she lives miles away). I jumped at the chance to catch up and decided as she was providing the meal, I would take 2 bottles of wine. When I got there she took them off me and put them in the cupboard in the other room! I was a bit miffed to say the least. She then announced that she had no food in and wasn't feeling particularly hungry so hadn't cooked, though I was welcome to help myself to the contents of her fridge..... which 3 hours later when I was starving (as I'd skipped lunch knowing I was out for Dinner), turned out to be 3 tomatoes!! I made my excuses and went home early!:rotfl:
Have a great weekend!

Beggars belief! I don't feel quite so hard done by now. I didn't get any champagne but I did get fed and watered!

Spent yesterday tidying and cleaning the house ready to receive guests at the weekend. Almost ready - just a few more chores for today.
MS wise:- made Fragrant Prawn & Courgette Curry from the meal plan for supper. A great recipe for using up a glut of courgettes as it uses 500g. There's enough left over for today as well
- walked round to a neighbours to water their tomatoes as they are on holiday. I've been encouraged to take any that ripen while they are away. There's a fair few there already so I will pick those today. I'll take them round some courgettes in return when they get back
- transferred the money to pay for the oil tank fitting
- did a little more work in the guest room. We have a beautiful art nouveau writing bureau which belonged to Mr F's parents. I have given it a birthday and put it in the guest room for use as a dressing table. We also got a 1930's bevel edged mirror down from the attic and put that up above the bureau. The mirror used to belong to Mr F's grandparents. They look lovely and will also be practical for guests. I love having a bit of family history around the house.
Happy Friday everyone.

What a lovely recipe! Will bookmark it, as lovely work chum will be 'gifting' me some courgettes - supposedly in exchange for the bay leaves & sage I took for her - we both know it's because she can't look at another one!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! The oil tank is fitted :T I'm very impressed with the fitters - quick and very tidy. One of them has to come back tomorrow to fit the fire boarding and tidy up the concrete and then we're all done. I've ordered some more oil through The 0il Club and I think the price may have gone down again - result!
I've spent most of this month's home improvement budget on matching drawer knobs for all the mis-matched guest room furniture, a headboard for the bed in there and tea light holders for the dining room. All on the list of things to save for so happy with that.
Family visited this weekend so:- an additional £38.74 on the food bill
- made Oaty Banana Cookies and Banana Cakes with Cream Cheese Frosting to use up some sulky bananas
- visited a local vineyard on Saturday. Bought a bottle of their sparkling rose, a vine for the garden (I've wanted one every since we moved in), some local pickled shallots and horseradish mustard (Mr F's choice) - £36.65
- stopped at a local hostelry for lunch - £54.60 (our treat)
- came home, sat in the garden and drank the rose with the Banana Cakes in the sunshine
- made Lentil Chilli followed by Chocolate & Raspberry Trifle for supper. We opened the free magnum of red we'd got with our last Laithwait£$ order and finished off with some of the specialty cheeses we bought at the K£nt County Show
- off for a picnic in the sunshine at a local NT property on Sunday
Hope you've all had a great weekend.

You have a local vineyard!????!!! Wow I'd never be away from it! ha ha!
Good news on the oil tank! We did really well with ours. It was second hand and we got it for £150 and it still had a load of oil in it! Was well impressed! All set up for winter now (we only use it for our central heating) providing this one doesn't split as well!
Have a great week!

Better than that Gmood - we have several local vineyards! In fact, we live next door to one  Still buy our wine from Laithwait£$ though - the vineyards are a bit pricey. We usually only buy their award winning vintages to give as gifts. One of our vineyards now has its own pub!
Glad you're sorted for the winter although I don't want to think about the Summer ending.
