I joined the WI in my 30s - took a 4 month old to my first meeting and was pregnant with DS3 whilst a member - he went to a meeting at 2.5 weeks old
(I was the youngest member (and still am!) of our WI!
x)
One of our Committee looks as though she's in her 20's! Most of the members are 45+ though. Not telling which category I fall in to :rotfl:There are about 50 of us. For the Christmas cake meeting I was on the same table as a professional caterer and picked up lots of tips. Very excited about it.
What would you say was your most interesting/useful meeting?

Mr F reminded me this morning that we need to book our flu shots. Also on the to do list - log chopping (the 20 tonnes has been delivered), boiler service and septic tank emptying. Who needs a celebrity lifestyle when you have all this excitement at home :rotfl:
Yesterday's MS efforts:- a little admin work
- baked a cake catastrophe. It was supposed to be lemon shortbread bars for Mr F's lunchbox but I didn't read the recipe properly and bake the shortbread first. Also I think I used too small a baking dish as the topping didn't set. It made a delicious desert though - hidden under some double cream :rotfl:
- fortunately, Mr F has a training course today and finishes at 12.30 so will be coming home for lunch
- continued painting the Beach Huts I started at art class this week. Just need to do a final touch up today and I can post a link
- Roasted Vegetable Soup (courtesy of Pr£t A Mang£r) and Parsnip, Parmesan & Sage Bread (courtesy of D£hlia) from the meal plan for supper tonight. Plenty left over for lunch today too

We've had a few meetings where I've been thankful the lights have been dimmed and I've been at the back, as I've almost dozed off during them!:o:o We've had a couple of cookery demos that I've enjoyed, a Tai Chi (sp?) class, a local cheesemaker, a guy who made enamel jewellery, a bee keeper/ honey producer - these were all fun/ interesting. The one which had me in stitches and literally lol-ing was a woman talking about allotments. I was't especially looking forward to it (we were I a run of dry speakers) but she was probably maybe 5 years younger than me and her delivery was fantastic - true comic timing and had great facial expressions to go with it. She told us of how she got into allotments, met her husband through allotments and now runs allotments for the local council - she had plenty of funny allotment related stories. We're having her back for another talk (not on allotments this time!) because she was truly so funny!
Floristry type talks bore me, I have to say (sorry!) - as did the making foil figures and paper cutting talks....:o

Mr F and the other neighbourhood Lumberjacks have been out all day chopping wood. We now have enough logs to last us for the next 3 years :T I've sent him off for a long hot bath... he may have taken a beer with him :rotfl:
Other MS:- several hours admin work completed yesterday
- a 15p Tillytidy
- Mexican bake from the meal plan for supper last night http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2469646/mexican-bake. There was supposed to be enough left for supper tonight as well but Mr F ate it for lunch! We may have to resort to a takeaway later
- a bottle of red from the wine rack to accompany the above
- another painting completed. I've been working on loosening up my style and am quite pleased with the results http://folksy.com/items/4575141-Sun-Horse-Original-Watercolour-Painting-Picture-Equine-Draft-Draught-Horse-. The trouble with using a looser style is that it doesn't photograph particularly well. I will have to experiment with the camera
- across-the-lane-neighbour popped over to deliver some picture frames. She's been helping out at the Scout Group jumble and thought I could use them
Happy weekend all
