  • Now, you will really think that I making this up as I go along, but I am honestly not!

I decided to email the buyer on Friday night. Usual stuff, sorry to hear item not arrived, really worrying as its two items, trying to speak to local delivery office, please bear with me and so on. Needless to say no response.

As I mentioned previously, I had a few things ending yesterday and managed to sell two out of the four listings I had. I was having a look at my sold listings and saw that I had a message.

To my surprise, the message was from the buyer of the lost items(s). Just a brief message - thank you for looking into it and then some remark about RM. I continued to read the message and to my horror it read 'I have just won another one of your items and am holding off paying as I was thinking I could pay a little extra for postage to send recorded'

I mean WT*! What is this person doing to me?

I did not respond to the email and they have now paid for the item. The reason I haven't responded is I don't think I want to sell them my item. I mean what the hell is going on?

I get a case opened against me. No communication from the buyer, two items going missing and now they have gone and bought something else.

Its crazy. I now have paypal holding x amount of money to cover the refund. The buyer who opened the case buying something else and their payment reducing the negative balance of the money that I have to refund to them anyway.

What the hell am I supposed to do now? I really don't want to have any further dealings with them. I have seen some of the feedback they have left for others who sold the same item and they are vicious.

I feel as if I am about to say goodbye to my ebay account that I have just opened!

All comments appreciated. However, if one person says you should have blocked them...

You will now understand why the first thing i do when i get a claim is block the buyer. Some on here don't agree with it - but tough.

The buyer is clearly now having fun with you. You have to send it or risk another neg. But send recorded - although most postmen wont even bother waiting for a signature and will just post it - so the buyer could claim again.

The message about wanting combined postage is clealry nonsense - as they have already paid and know the items have been sent.

You could try telling Ebay you think you are being targeted to ruin your account. Worth a try to have any bad reedback removed. You will still have to refund them though.

I'm not sure what I am going to do to be honest. I may just try to cancel this sale and refund her.

There is no way I am coughing up more money to send recorded. Its a heavy item (parcel). Surely they would not have the audacity to say another item was a no show? I know ebay would probably not take any notice, but Royal Mail would surely small a rat?

If it's a heavy item send it courier that way you'll have tracking for this.
How much p&p have you charged?
Continue trying to get through to their delivery office.

It weighs approx 2000g. I charged standard parcel at £5.30, recorded is £9.25.

If I do send, I will send standard parcel. I think I actually want to see if they have the cheek to claim INR!

This will be my last post tonight as off out. But all comments/feedback on how you would handle this would be appreciated

    Many thanks

I would post it Collect+ If it's not too large. £4.99 with tracking I certainly wouldn't risk yet another INR.

Agree with hermum - collect plus for me - if not too big (up to 50x30x30cm)

If too bid - then courier through interparcel etc.

Or do as you say - cancel and refund and argue it out with Ebay.

If it was a scammer - they WOULD have the cheek to try again - they know there is nothing you can do.

Well I managed to get through to the delivery office and the items are not there. The guy I spoke to said that it is 'highly unlikely' that two items going to the same address would go amiss. As it had been less than 18 days since they would have received them in the delivery office, they won't have been returned to me. Therefore, he tells me it is very likely they have been delivered. So there you have it.

This has been a bitter experience for me. I really do struggle to understand the mentality of the buyer. I would never, ever cheat someone in this way. I find their actions morally reprehensible.

Surely if they tried to do the same thing to me again, Royal Mail would investigate. If I put in two claims for three items that have gone missing to the same buyer in the space of a couple of weeks, alarm bells must ring somewhere.

Anyway, I will refund and put the claim in, but they can wait until the 20th. I have decided to send the other item using hermum's suggestion, thanks for that.

Unfortunately - when those alarm bells do start ringing - it is YOU, the sender, who will be barred from claiming. They have no contract with the buyer.

They are a bit like Ebay - not really concerned with whats right.
