It was highlighting how PCW do not tell you everything
If you look at 'ole Jinksy's posts on the last page you can get a feel for those employees. They guy genuinely doesn't have a clue it is a bad deal, PCW have convinced their own employee this is a good deal for the consumer.

These guys are just repeating what their employers have taught them, as Jinksy has demonstrated, they don't necessarily understand it themselves.

Remember you aren't getting advice from a professionally qualified technician, the employees are simply school leavers who probably spent most of their upbringing sitting in front of a playstation.

Lol... I don't care who's to blame, as long as someone puts a stop to it soon! Equally.... Do these school leavers not have brains?? Integrity?? The ability to ask questions?? Lordy! :)

The ipad mini 24 month deal is pretty good.

A you get 1T icloud storage

    B anything happens insurance

C Norton virus protection (Apple does have security issues)

D 25% back after the term and upgrade to ipad mini 7 IF you wish

E OR keep ipad mini 21.76 a month if you keep it yes its an expensive deal when you consider the out lay is £522.24 BUT you get all of the above for £5.21 a month effectively

F one can not realistically expect Currys NOT to make a profit some where along the line?

G BUY IT OUT RIGHT or Go for a playbook £129 64GB bargain !!!!

Norton and Computer Healthcheck do not apply to Apple products.

If you take the 16GB version:

    1. Pay Now = £269.00
    + 2 years 1 TB Cloud Storage (Currys) = £100
    + SOGA/Apple Warranty (Fix or Replace)* = £0

= £369 and you own an iPad mini.

Accidental cover would need to be sought elsewhere.
*SOGA/Warranty may not cover everything else.
There are cheaper cloud storage solutions too, or may not even be needed.

    2. Infinity = £21.76 pm

= £522.34 and you own nothing

I guess it all depends on how much you value the "insurance" cover it offers, and also what you would personally value the iPad mini at after 2 years.
  • I have just been caught out on this. I am coming to the end of my 2 year contract with my laptop. I thought that I had the option of trading my laptop in for a new one at the end or getting £100 back at the end if I made all my payments and wanted to keep the laptop (that is how it was sold to me).

Only today I have received an email from the Infinity Team to say that I have 3 options available. Return the laptop, carry on leasing or trade in. I want to keep my laptop but don't want to pay any more for it since I have more than paid the price of it.

I can't believe how I have been caught out like this.

Yes, that's how I found out.. 12 months later. The receipt and paper work I just filed away until I needed it. Not once was the word 'lease' mentioned by the salesman.
  • Well, I'm not alone here.. I signed up to what I was told was a payment plan and NOT a leasing plan for an Apple iPad a little over a year ago. I know, I know, I know.. I should have read the paperwork, but like many others I took the word of the sales rep at PC World, Trafford Centre that what was signing up for was for a finance deal with insurance etc.. The fact being, I must hand back my iPad in under 12 months time unless I extend the lease. To say that I'm annoyed and frustrated is an understatement!
How a company such as PC World allow its sales teams to consistently lie to the customers to achieve a sale. But, as the famous saying goes.. it's not what you know, it's what you can prove. I know what I was told, I just can't prove it was miss sold. No point in contacting Know How, they will just tell me "Sorry, but keep paying"!

Folks.. If you want a PC, Laptop or tablet.. Pay in full, DON'T sign up for Infinity, it's a rip off!

  • This is fraudulent misselling on a mass scale. I hope Martin Lewis takes this up with the press/tv etc to give it mass exposure. Has anyone signed up for this knowing the full facts at point of sale?
