Currys Infinity can I do any thing about it?

What are the 'buyers' obligations on returning a working device? If I'd been caught out by this scam I'd be very tempted to have an 'accident' with it just before handing it back and let them claim on the insurance you had to buy. It would quickly become unaffordable if that happened a lot.0

Spoke to PC World, they told me that I have to continue paying till the end of the two year contract and only then can I hand the device back. If I knew then what I know now, there wouldn't be a cat in hells chance of me signing up for Infinity.. Public be aware!0 -
Where's jinksy when you need him?
He is adamant it's a great deal.
I feel genuine pity for you guys but it isn't necessarily the salesman's fault, as jinksy demonstrated, they haven't got a clue how bad it is either.0 -
I to took out infinity, I told the salesman I wanted to purchase an I pad and was told infinity was the best way to buy and iPad. I know I should of read all the paperwork that was provided to me but I trusted this employee to sell me something that suited my need, at no point was I told this was a rental agreement, I was aLso told the insurance was free!! I saw on the tv programme 'your money their tricks' last week the issue of this then got my paperwork out as I could not believe that I would not own the product after paying £32.80 per month for 2 years. I have spoken to the CEO office after registering my complaint to be told they are not willing to do anything about it as I should of registered my complaint earlier, as I pointed out to that member of staff I would not of known about this had I not of seen the tv programme last week. I am fuming!0

Pursue it. Go to the store and kick up merry hell. You went to the store to BUY a product, and if at no point they told you this was leasing, then they have mis-sold it.
Blatent deception on behalf of the sales person!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I was also conned into this. I went in to buy a laptop with my boyfriend and was told Infinity was the best way. The sales guy was quite pushy - he was at the end of his shift. We had chosen a laptop that was on special offer and queried the fact that with infinity it would end up costing over the original price. We were told that Infinity was like insurance and that's what you were paying the extra for - it was sold to us as being part of their Knowhow scheme. In the event something happened we would be able to return it and get a replacement. I asked specifically about what would happen at the end of the two years. We were told that after two years we could either keep the laptop or trade it in and get 25%cashback for an upgrade.
We were still hesitant and unsure but the sales guy told us it was a great deal and was proving to be very popular, when we were still hesitant he told us that if we were unhappy with anything we could bring it back and cancel.
We were never told it was a leasing scheme, we were never told that it was through a third party company -rentsmart and we were never told at any point that we would not own the laptop.
After seeing the programme on tv I am obviously feeling gutted that we took him at his word when he 'went through the terms' with us and blatantly lied.
I am unsure of what to do but have been advised to call the office of fair trading.0 -
Hi all, I just happened to come across this post and I am disgusted!
I am a sales adviser at a currys/pcworld store and what the adviser told you is simply not acceptable!
Infinity (In my opinion) is mainly suited for gamers or people who would normally upgrade there system every 2 years, the reason for this is when you carry on infinity you get cash back of 25% of the original retail value, which for a pc/laptop is roughly what you would get for it by selling it after fees.
The price after 2 years is roughly the same as buying everything outright after cash-back and works out better value than the 2 year finance option (if you carry it on).
Again in my opinion Infinity has a very small market and is perfect for some but not everyone.
The main problem here is the sales advisers morals, or lack of, "hitting targets" should not be the number 1 priority over giving the customer what they want and need!
I pride myself in finding the RIGHT solution for every customer and being completely honest and am ashamed to be put in the same category as the complete !!!!!!! that blatantly lied to you!
Anyways i hope everything got sorted out in the end0 -
Just got my 2 year notice letter, totally gob smacked, paid £800 for a £400 iPad and they want it back, the salesman assured me I keep it at the end of 2 years I keep it,0
