I went to my local day nursery to ask about fees, and gosh I had a shock!! £160 full time per week, £40 per day or £20 half a day. I might need 2 to 3 full days, it is going to cost a fortune!!! What other options are there?

You are lucky they do half days for that price. My DD is in a creche. It's over £600 per month for a full time place and they charge £35 per day or £32 for a half day. If you choose half day it's either 7.30am - 12.30pm or 1pm to 6.30pm.

When I go back to work after having this baby we'll have 2 in creche :eek:. Even if my Mum does a day for us it will still be over £1000 per month.

The meeting was interesting - lots of women and lots of kids!!
I'd already tried a stretchy, but it seems that is the best for newborns so we will start out with one of those, and a friend of mine is going to make me a ring-sling type one too, then once they're older we can see what works.

On the childcare, see if you can get childcare vouchers, that helps. The ones I looked into ages ago it seems were £35-£37 a day so might be worth shopping around. Also depends what they include, some include all nappies and formula (if formula feeding), others don't. You could also look at a childminder or sharing a nanny. We haven't figured out what to do yet, I should start looking again at the options around us. Surprised you got the half day at half the price, the ones here seemed to be more like £35 full day or £30 half!

Assuming a cycle of 28 days, count back 38 weeks from the day you want your baby to be born. That should give you the day you should be getting down 'n' dirty

....but the day you end up with needs to be near the day you ovulate, so it's worth figuring out when that might be if your cycles are regular. You can try charting your basal body temperature to see when you usually ovulate in your cycles. Apparently. I conceived on my first month of measuring so can't comment in too much detail!

Hi everyone, haven't been on this thread in a while - I seem to have made it to number 26 on the list! *eek*

Having previously been worried I wasn't gaining enough weight, I now laugh hollowly at that thought, at 32 weeks I have gained a stone already and presumably loads more to come!

I noticed some ladies wondering about the whopping cough vaccine - I had mine this week and it was fine, bit sore after but no nastier side-effects.

Am here to ask - what changing bags has everyone bought? I'd love a really funky one, ideally for less than forty quid, and I am hoping to find one I could use as my hospital bag too since I have all the stuff ready to go in that now. Got the free Boots one already but it doesn't seem big enough to me.

Also - any tips on where to get good deals on buggies? Don't mind used, I have my heart set on a Britax Vigour 3+ (since I have been given the car seat to go with it already.) All the ones on Ebay are collection only and since I am only a learner driver I can't really get anywhere that needs a motorway! (Incidentally, my driving instructor is TERRIFIED of me at this stage god love him, I fully expect he is going to start refusing to take me out in the next couple of months. You know that look people get, where it occurs to them you might go into labour on them? That's how he looks!)

Just an update to whoever is very kindly doing the list - had a scan yesterday and after a long 1 hour and 30 mins (baby was being stubborn), we finally discovered we are having a little girl!

I was 100% sure we would be having a boy, so completely shocked, but absolutely delighted (secretly hoping for a girl!!)
