Congrats emsbet. Although I may actually cry...lol. When's it my turn?? Obviously no contractions or anything yet...boo.
Indeed, naughty bouncing was sex. The issue I have with lots of walking is my hips, they've really started to hurt this last week. Boo. I have a question, if I go in hospital on Thurs for induction at 10am, will they give me lunch?? Seems important I know this. Ha ha.
I'd take something with you, I'm sure there was a discussion on here before about whether they let you eat if you are induced and it seemed to vary (might have been epidurals though). Is OH allowed to stay throughout or will they kick him out until labour is established?0 -
hurray two new babies! congrats to milliebob and emsbet:beer:
twinklie, well done on the sexytime - co-erced DH into the same. i say co-erced, it was more 'you bloody got me into this state, you can bloody well get me out....'. oh the romance. And you should so make a subway stop off on thursday. hospital food is rank anyway, the best you will get will be a ropey sarnie at dinner time and a yukky brew.0 -
Congrats Milliebob and Emsbet, glad you are both enjoying mummy cuddles!
Twinklie I got my gym ball out yesterday but only cos I found it to be the most comfy way to sit! Tried the walking thing - just felt like death during and afterwards. Tried sex - nothing. This baby does not want to come out for some reason. Problem is, it is now making me a recluse. I don't want to go out cos it's too much hassle to get dressed properly, and I really can't be doing with seeing people cos I am just so miserable! Ah well, let's hope things get moving for both of us soon! x
Dizsie I kind of see both sides of the argument here! Mishka is right - it is your friends birthday and so it really is up to her how she wants to celebrate it. She could have given you a call though to let you know that's what she wanted to do but would understand if you weren't up for it. I had a similar thing a few months back; I used to run a fitness group and stepped down from it (before I got pregnant) because i was doing everthing and pretty much got taken for granted. One of the members (one of mys upposed closest friends) then decided we all needed to have a catch up and that we should all go out for the night so sent out an invite saying that we should arrange a trip to Birmingham (40 mins away) to have dinner and then go clubbing afterwards. I didn't even bother responding! I know that they don't have to arrange the night around me, but they didn;t take into consideration other members of the group either; there's a central little click of people and things get arrranged around them only. I was very upset when I firat walked away from this groupbut now I really see them for what they are. They aren't bad people, but they aren't people that I want to be around or associate with anymore.
Someone was asking about moses baskets adn cotbeds - was it Marta? We've not bothered with a moses basket as we understand that they don't get used for very long. We have a travel system though and are planning to use the pram bit as a moses basket if needs be. We have bought a cotbed as these usually see LO through to age 5 and we got a very good deal on ours from toyrus (cotbed+mattress+bedding set+mobile - saved about £100). toysrus often do 20% vouchers as well so always worth hanging on for one of those before buying furniture. We also got a swinging crib for our room as baby will be in with us for several months and the cotbed is too massive to fit next to our bed. Got a gorgeous mothercare one off ebay for £12.50 though so didn't spend a fortune on it.
Reusable nappies - not going to bore you all again with my views but I would recommend visiting www.thenappylady.co.uk
and filling in the questionnaire to get a tailor made receommendation of which nappies to buy. You don't have to buy from this website but she does give very good advice about what would suit YOU best.
Rups sounds like your OH is just being a typical bloke; he's only thinking about the impact that this is GOING to have for him and not the impact it has ALREADY had on you! Grin and bear it hun, he prob doesn't mean to be insensitive but just make sure that he doesn't get settled into a routuine whereby he gets to socialise regularly and you're left taking care of LO all the time. You need time for yourself too and he will have to pull his weight!
Lying in bed at mo, can't face getting up! Have both cats with me (Monkey is curled up with her paw across her face - very cute!) and they show no signs of wanting to go anywhere! Another lazy day it is then!0 -
you made me laugh about the getting dressed, MMM. i have taken to keeping two pairs of pants downstairs - my respectable, must-leave-the-house jeans for school run, then soon as im home its back in my fat pants.0

This is what we've done. I tried to limit stuff as we only have a titchy house and a moses basket didn't make the list. Freddie's been happy in his cot from day one. If for some reason he needs to sleep in another room (when he was a newborn we'd have him downstairs with us in the evening or sometimes now he's banished to the back bedroom at 4am if he's awake and chattering!) he goes in the carrycot part of his pram system.
Works really well, but you do need room in your own room for a cot."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Morning. Congrats to Milliebob and Emsbet - fab news and love the names!
Dizsie - I can see both sides however, I also know my friends would take things into account for me regardless of what they wanted to do. I am now 37 and have been friends with some of these people for 20 years (one of them for nearly 37 years, lol!) and we are all married but only some have children. We all change plans depending on how each of us are, pregnant or otherwise. I can see her point of view but think she could have been a tiny bit more accommodating. It could be a sign of things to come and some friendships make it and others don't - you get to know who your real friends are.
Marta - Like MMM, we got a swinging crib for our bedroom as a cot/cotbed would never have fitted in our bedroom. DS was born at 10lb 10oz and we used the crib til he was 6 months - we'd never have got past 2 months if we'd used a moses basket. We then moved the crib into his own room and let him get used to sleeping in by himself and then moved him into his cotbed. It worked fine for us and we'll do it that way for this one too. Re the moving baskets downstairs etc, obviously we couldn't move the crib so we used a travel cot downstairs for sleeping in the daytime (I have muscle weakness and stairs can be difficult for me some days). It is the size of a an actual cot and DS was never phased by the space round him so long as he was warm enough. However, I do have a friend who just usaed the cot from day 1. it all comes down to personal preference and space.
Rups - also agree with MMM on this one. As you get closer to due date, the reality begins to kick in. Marta is right - go about things your normal way and get baby used to it all. You may have to make some adjustments but you don't have to make massive changes. My DH discovered that he was no longer bothered about going out with his mates when DS arrived as he preferred to be at home with us. You won't know how your DH will be til baby is definitely here - they all react differently. (He will have to grow up a bit though by the sounds of it!) Oh and DS would always kick a lot when he heard DH's voice, never mine!
Can also second The Nappy Lady for advice on reusables. Couldn't persuade DH but the advice was good!
CL - re the mattresses. Did you try any local shops to see if they had any offers? I ordered a travel cot mattress and a new crib mattress from babymattressesonline a little while ago and they were very quick and I'm more than happy with them. The delivery was a killer - £15 to NI (hence why I ordered both at once and it was the only place to get the type and size of travel cot mattress I wanted!) which is pretty standard for things this size coming from the mainland via courier.
MMM - have a lovely lazy day!
Twinklie and Mummyoftwo - hope babies behave and arrive soon!
Right that's enough for now - be back later!0 -
Morning all!
Congratulations to milliebob and to emsbet. Will update the birth list in a minute.
*Rant alert below - feel free to ignore the miserable pregnant lady.*
Well I think I've got to the stage that people warned me about where I feel really grumpy and fed up and almost tearful cos I want this to all be over now (due date on Sunday). My energy dipped completely yesterday at around 11am, and I had to go back to bed, but the trouble is, there is building work going on a couple of houses down from us, and stupid MIL also was out there shouting (she doesn't talk any more as she's slightly deaf) at her friend in the driveway before cooing over the baby that lives on the other side of her (she's unable to stalk me at the moment since I've closed the curtains etc, so has been pouncing on them every time they go out now too - she is obsessed with babies), so I couldn't sleep then either. I feel a bit better this morning tiredness-wise, but I'm convinced that Bean is no longer head-down, so this is worrying me too (got midwife appointment on Friday, so will find out then). We're also still waiting to hear about when they are going to decorate our bedroom now that the plaster has dried and Moon has lost the business card with their contact number on! I just want my bedroom to be back to normal so I know that we're not going to have to have builders etc over once Bean is here.
MMM I can completely relate to feeling like a recluse - yesterday I had a shower and instead of getting dressed into clothes, I put a clean nightie on instead. lol My Mum has asked if we want to go over for dinner on Monday (day after my due day) and I told her it depends on whether I've had the baby, but I'm also thinking that I probably won't be the best company either even if I haven't!
Well I'm going to stop moaning now and go and find that list to update.
Hugs to all who need or want them, and labour vibes to all the boldies.

I do the shower and put clean pjs on too. I am another recluse, only going out when necessary. Everything really is a massive hassle isn't it!!
Noted, might make a packed lunch for Thursday and then if they say I cant eat DH can have it. I imagine they must let you eat though cos inductions can take ages to kick off and you wouldn't have the strength to push if they didn't let you eat.

morning ladies
hugs and big labour vibes to those who are overdue/nearly due and fed up. Hope those naughty bubbas get a move on for you pronto!
DH seems to be a bit fed up of waiting now, he keeps going on about how he's ready for Beanie to arrive now. I'm not, still only 32 weeks, I want them to stay put til 37 at least! :rotfl: Starting to feel much bigger, did a bump shot last night and there's a huge difference between the last 2, which probably explains why my tummy muscles are so sore!
MW this morning, hoping she'll tell me which way bubba is lying, I'm regularly getting hard bits all down one side of my bump, so hoping they're starting to settle into position. Also need to get a card for an urgent blood test after yesterday's fiasco, or tomorrow's consultant appointment will be a waste of timeLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160
