  • I really need to decide how long I wish to take off work. Should have told HR 2 weeks ago but I've had other things to worry about, so said I'd take the form in next week. Thinking 39 weeks at the moment, which would take me to the start of the new academic year 2013-14 (end Nov to start Sept), just before the students return to uni.

Work then have their own payment options and I'm finding them quite confusing - guess I'm going to have to see HR (not my favourite people).

DH has said we'll do the same, Anstruther Fish Bar as well. I wouldn't want to live there full time now as so far from family etc, but we really miss St Andrews :o happy times :)

HR should assume that you're taking the full year, you don't have to give a definite return date til later - we have to give 8 weeks notice if it's before the year is up though.

    Afternoon ladies :)

Been to the zoo with sister and nieces today, lovely weather but I'm knacked now and my hands and feet are all puffy. Niece no1 starts school tomorrow, can't believe it! Seems like only yesterday she was a teeny newborn (well as teeny as a nearly 10lber can be ;) )

Off to look at cars tomorrow, and wanted to try the family mass at the other church in our parish before Beanie arrives, so will be busy :)

I got home tonight. Isabelle was born 11.07pm on 6th September weighing 6lb 15. I was induced due to very high bp. I was kept in as it didn't come down but discharged this afternoon. Im feeling very fuzzy headed and am freaking out as they told me I was at risk of a stroke and fitting.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

Do you know what your blood pressure was? I've spent the majority of the day in hospital being monitored. Went to emergency docs with ear infection this morning and ended up being referred to hospital with high BP and protein in urine. Had tons of tests done and CTG and everything ok so luckily they sent me home. Have to have BP monitored on Mon, Tues, Weds next week though. Fingers crossed the sweep on Mon starts things off otherwise I may end up with an induction next week.

We are in the process of moving back to St A at the moment (family live there). Hopefully before the baby comes (28th Oct)
Funny to read about places I know ;)

Well I had a nap and ended up with the period-type cramping again that woke me up. It's still a dull ache at the moment - nothing measurable in terms of contractions or anything. It's definitely worse if I lay down though. It's making sleeping really tricky though. I told midwife about the pains at my appointment yesterday, and she said they sound normal. Was hoping to use the nap this afternoon to catch up on sleep, but it didn't work. Has anyone else been experiencing these cramping pains? They are just like really bad period pains.

It could be the start of it Sexymouse, if you can rest as much as you can, I know it's futile though :( but you could be in for the long haul, fingers crossed not, even if you can't nap or sleep, even resting where you can will be worth it :) Good Luck xxx

  • Hi ladies

I've been mostly posting on the facebook group recently, as its easier to access on my phone but am home with an evening to myself and finally on a computer! I'm 36 weeks and 2 days today
. Still growing! Here's a piccie - hope it doesn't come out too big! Sorry for scary blanked out face but my OH's ex is a complete headcase and tends to stalk me on the internet so I avoid putting any face pics up on anything public!

    b1.jpg

Well we had our final NCT class today. I've got to say I have loved going. We had a shorter course than some (14 hours split over two weekend and on evening sessions, costing £140) and its some of the best money we have spent during this pregnancy. We didn't really learn too much (in fact some of the info almost clashed with the info we got from the NHS classes. eg - one said it's best to tear naturally, one said best to be cut if required - conflict?!?) but it was still fun all the same. There were 8 couple on our course and we are all due between mid Sep and mid Oct. We have a Reunion arranged for 1st December at a room in our local library then intend to go out for a Christmas lunch straight after, so somewhere that will cater for the 16 adults, and 8 babies. Really looking forward to it. It was more the social side that OH and I were interested in and I think we've achieved that, so money well spent. If anyone is umming and ahhing over whether the commit to the classes, as long as you can afford it I would fully recommend it!

We just went into town after the class, and bought a comforter and birth ball, so I've been bouncing this afternoon. Would have possibly been more useful to get a space-hopper maybe so I could get between rooms without having to get off it :)

Symptoms now: quite sicky, terrible indigestion when I lie flat, still completely unable to sleep on a night apart from an hour and two, but no stretch marks as yet hurrah! Baby only likes to live in my right hand side (has anyone else found that?!? I could get another one in there I'm sure), he's head down and 3/5 engaged. I'm also measuring 36cm, so bang on for the number of weeks. My bump is usually pointing off to the right, rather than round. Plus I have Strep B which has been very stressful, and know I will need anti-biotics during labour, which I hate.

On the plus side, I am finishing work in 9 working days, before taking a weeks holiday. Then maternity leave starts on 1st Oct. I am looking forward to it but do have quite mixed feelings about finishing. I've not been at all happy with how my boss has handled my leaving, and we have no HR department to talk to.
It's just little things like them asking me to hand in my work phone before I leave. I don't really know why that bothers me but it does. I want to keep my own number for when I go back. I don't want someone else using it for 6 months, but ... I suppose you can't have everything!

Plus I'm naturally a very organised person and don't like the thought of not really knowing my life is going to be like in 6 months time. Ideally I'd want to work 3.5 days a week on a great pro-rata'd salary, but I think the liklihood is work will say I can't do part time and need to return full time or not at all. The thought of looking for a new job is awful, but then in some ways do it returning to my current job, so I really dont know what I'm going to do there. I have two people covering for me whilst I'm off and my boss publicly said the other day "Hopefully there will be enough work for all 3 of you when you come back"..... "hopefully!?!?" hmmmmm what to make of that. If there isn't?!?!

Anyway just enjoying the peace of watching X factor whilst OH is out, and should be doing a mountain of ironing, but I'm not as yet. Better get cracking!!
