quick question please? those who have been for nct classes, is it worth paying that membership fees for a year or not? thanks.
Being a member lets you in to any nearly new sales before the general public. We went to one a few weeks ago and we got loads of stuff, probably saved over £40 on new prices. It was manic though and a lot of the good stuff was gone by the time everyone else got in. I'm not sure if you can also get into classes/groups for a reduced price.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Thanks for the birth story LMM.
I hadn't realised you were having a c-section milliebob, good luck for the 17th!
I couldn't find any RLT in town, so will be looking in Tesco tomorrow. I have a 2 hour gap between scan and consultant appointment so that'll give me something to do to take up the time. Has the RLT or capsules actually worked for any of the ladies who've had their babies or it another old wives tale? On another forum everyone was swearing by nipple stimulation as the only technique that will work, but I'm quite sceptical of all of it.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
Evening
Elelyn if I didn't say it already then congratulations hun
Rups - it gets confusing as there is a Twinklie and a twinkle.
Well I've just got home, never made it to the midwife this afternoon as we had to stay at the hospital.
Got there and they did my BP and tested my urine and both were fine. She asked how many movements I had felt this morning it was about 11am and I said none today but I had some last night. She said this wasn't good enough and I said I had been told 24 hours and no movements then to contact them but that it was quite early and I'd had strong movements last night so wasn't worried. She told me, for me and my pregnancy it should be 12 hours not 24, any quiet periods and I have to go in. (I wish they had made this clearer last time, as I felt like poop then for not being worried as I'd been working on the 24 hours thing).
They hook me up to the CTG and nothing. They move it around, nothing. They get someone else to come try and again nothing. I explain about what happened 2 weeks ago and how this is the 3rd time with 3 different pieces of machinery that baby has had no heartbeat. (It's an awesome party trick but I do wish he wouldn't do it as it's scary as hell!)
They decide to scan me so we go into a private room and the doctor/consultant lady scans me, she shows us the heartbeat first and then says she will do a growth scan while we are there. She checks everything here from his head to toes, takes measurements, shows us the bloodflow in the cord which is spot on, shows us him breathing, his bladder and the liquid in it, the pockets of fluid around bubs. He's moved once while she is doing this, we can see him wiggling his toes on the scan she tries to jiggle him to make him move some more and he's not interested, apart from that one kick and wiggling his toes he doesn't want to play. She measures the blood flow in his brain as I've been exposed to Parvo and have no immunity and also anemia can make babies quiet and if baby is anemic you can tell my blood flow in the brain. Blood flow is fine so she asks me to go for a walk and have a drink and to not do my injections as if things aren't satisfactory I may need to be induced. She says while we are out she will compare growth scans as although baby is within percentiles she wants to compare and check he is growing in line with previous growth.
Off we go for a wander and I ring my nan and mum to let them know what is happening, just in case. OH buys me a drink and a minging sandwich. I don't have any movements while we are wandering but I do have one almighty braxton contraction. We head back to the scan room and the doctor lady comes back to scan me. Baby has turned around but I've not felt it so doctor thinks baby may have turned when i had the braxton which is apparently a good thing. Baby is a bit more awake and although subtle I see and feel movements. We get to see baby clenching and opening his hands as if to say bog off I'm sleeping!
Consultant is happy with the scans and movement now and she shows us the growth graphs and baby is still growing at a steady rate. He's put on 13oz in the last 2 weeks and she thinks he will be about 7lb 7oz at full term. We discussed induction and decided to wait and see as there is no guarantee induction will work and it might lead to a section and with the risk of epidural/spinal not working and the high risk of GA causing me problems she doesn't want to risk it. So we've agreed to try for spontaneous labour. I've to stop my medication incase labour begins especially as I've been getting irregular braxtons and period pains etc and have to go back in 2 weeks.
If I don't feel movements in a 12 hour period, my waters break, or the contractions become regular or I have a bloody show then I have to go back in.
It felt really good to have someone go through everything in so much detail with us and show us such amazing things like bub's toes etc. It's good that they don't want to intervene too much even though I'm having an early epidural (hopefully)
Oh and my granddad said to me today, you've started getting fat. I am 36 weeks pregnant grandad, and he said well I think I'm having sympathy weight gain and rubs his belly, I told him he's had sympathy weight gain for the last 10 years in that case then lol.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

RLT isn't to induce labour early hun it's to help tone the uterus and cervix I believe xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Oh, the lady who does my class does one in Fareham, but that's nearly an hour away for you.
Who's the midwife, sm? I went to a few aquanatal classes in Fareham and I'm wondering if it's the same person..."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
oh gosh ikkle you poor thing. I am glad everything went ok at the hosp and you feel re-assured now. gosh. that would freak me out. i didnt realise that the movements should be monitored as such. glad you and bubs are ok though. hugs xxx was this at may day though? i might have confused you wit someone else if not.

Oh ikkle that little boy does like to scare you doesn't he! Must've been a worrying day, glad all was ok in the end. It actually sounds like you have a good plan in place now though which must be reassuring. I hope he starts kicking more for you so you don't have to worry as much.
Lol, I'm so thick with the RLT thing. I don't suppose I even need it then, glad I didn't get any in the end!!Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -

You do get quiet days, but as long as you still get the 10 movements it isn't a worry. I've been extra aware of quiet days since doing my kick chart. The last week I had 4 days in a row where I just scraped my 10 movements, and now the last 3 days she has been moving more than ever. In my area they say you shouldn't start counting movements until 27 weeks (I think, my brain is a bit hazy on that one).Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -

I'm up at the LGI hun in Leeds where they filmed last season of OBEM and are filming the next season too.
The hospital don't routinely monitor babies movements it's down to you to keep an eye out, at 24 weeks I wouldn't expect you to have much of a pattern of movements though tbh, it's quite normal for them to be quiet then hyper at that stage. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

He's bloody naughty I tell you that, I have it written down in my notes that when in labour not to try use CTG to monitor heartbeat now but to put the little thing on the top of their heads, so hopefully that will be a bit more reliable. He was kicking really strongly last night and then this morning was just a bit quiet but I thought I was supposed to be working on the 10 movements per 24 hours like you so I wasn't worried but apparently not.
It definitely does seem like they are trying to put the best plan of action in place for me now your right. I'm actually getting things explained to me which is good. xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
