ladym... lol you made me laugh. i feel the same way spending on maternity stuff. hopefully a normal maxi would be good for you. i was so impressed once i found a lovely green printed one for 5 pounds in Primark - just a size bigger. hehe

countrybum, i am def up for not coming in tomorrow as i need to chill and sleep. and i wont feel bad about using it as a sick day rather than holiday as have only 8 days left and if i can, i would rather stick that on for maternity no?

I think so, although you can get some kind of milk fever if your milk is there and nothing lets it out - I'd ask the midwives to tell you more. You might need to express a bit anyway to prevent this. I'd consider feeding baby the stuff you produce at first - the colostrum - as there's supposed to be all sorts of goodness in there for them which helps fight off infections and things; even if you don't go onto feeding afterwards (unless something in your medication goes through into breast milk and you're recommended not to do it).

engorged boobies and mastitis is a killer ! you may find it best to invest in a pump to slow the flow rather than not feed at all, although you can express by hand i never found it easy.

regarding expressing milk, do you do this as soon as you start getting the milk or just afrer giving birth?

Contrybum – A lot of it is new but I wrote a list (at 12 weeks pg) of what I wanted & the cheapest I could find it online and emailed it to my phone so when out and about if I saw it cheaper I would know whether to go for it. Some stuff has been VGC secondhand I have won on ebay and I have just been watching for a while and then decided the max would pay and bid on things ending midday as they seem to have less bids on J I started buying some bits early… I got my buggy at 8 weeks! The rest I have bought from 12 weeks onwards.

LadyM – I am 28+5 and non-maternity maxi dresses are fine J

Triangle – I am very organised with every aspect in life… chaotic, unorganised people drive me nuts and if them being disorganised affects me doing what I want/need to do I mostly cut them out…harsh but that’s just the way I am! Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today? My Nan died in January aged just 65… to me this has shown me even more not to procrastinate and to just get on with things because you never know what is around the corner… To shock you even more …. Babies hospital bag is already packed (mine isn’t) so if he came at any minute I would be prepared (although he might not fit the nappies and clothes!)

I might add everything is stored in my old bedroom at my mums house as until we move I don’t have the room for stuff we don’t need asap and I’m a bit superstitious J
