I'm going to have to stop asking family members questions about pushchairs, car seats and travel systems. My mother has just argued with me when all I was asking was why I might need a car seat on a travel system if I'm not going to be using the car very much, if at all. This might just be my irrational first trimester hormones kicking in, but I wasn't too impressed with her arguing with me instead of answering my logical questions.

I've also just realised I have no waist anymore :'(

You'll need a car seat to bring baby home in otherwise they won't let you leave. Although I don't see how. They can't lock you in or anything. :rotfl:

Pigpen, I agreed with what you said and think women should be supported in trying vaginal breech delivery when this is their choice. I disagree though that the reason for increased section rates are about making things easier for the doctors, I believe most are acting on the best available evidence.

Helen, I really hope you don't think I'm trying to scare you, I'm not - but I know lots of the information out there can be very biased one way or the other and the arguments of both sides are sometimes very emotion laden. The decision is yours to make either way, and the clinical staff should support you - if they don't then AIMS can be helpful, as can engaging a doula. I hope baby turns naturally and it all becomes moot anyway :)

Thank you for your brilliant post :)

I'm feeling anxious as breech births as I was breech and my mum delivered naturally, so did my aunt and my mum was breech too! So I'm trying to inform myself before making any decisions but all questions with the healthcare world are met with a blanket c-section response.

Hopefully I've got several weeks to read up and decide. It's not a high risk pregnancy so I am currently on the side of natural delivery and c-section as an emergency. It's all quite serious really, I expected to sidle through and reach the end after a magical birth with a new baby :rotfl: (I.e no decisions to make!).

Amy.. having read the info available on footling deliveries (given that is what they suspected with my 10 y/o) I think that is the single and ONLY time I would ever allow a section to be done of my own free will.. footling deliveries are often very unsafe for the baby and the outcomes are not very promising for far too many. As it turned out my daughter wasn't footling but in a very strange position and has cerebral palsy anyway due to medical incompetence of another sort.

The cattle market hospital here has one of the highest section rates because they can control who comes in and out so force as many people as possible to have them.. it is horrific!! And most are preventable.. They tried forcing my daughter to have a section because 'theatre is empty now and might not be IF!! you need it later' .. I was absolutely horrified!! Thankfully the consultant .. who was my consultant because he had at least a little common sense was not convinced that was a good enough reason either thank goodness, though he did say if that was what she wanted he would do it!.. at which point I declined on her behalf.. but if these are the reasons they are giving to do a section there is something very wrong!

Helen.. I am still going to wake up with the baby in the crib next to my bed one morning.. no delivery of any sort just magically transported while I sleep.

Oh hell no... I'm only being csectioned if it's absolutely the right thing to do. I can't believe they would do it for convenience  it's major surgery!

I'm hoping the recent increase in wriggling around is a sign it's getting ready for one big spin :) its dad is a lazy oik too so I'd expect it to move at the last minute, grabbing a cup of coffee on route and apologising for it being late :rotfl:

Pigpen - just seen your edit... If you can let me know the best supplier for the magical delivery and I will book in too :D

    Hi ladies

Just a quick one from me - baby Holly arrived safely at lunchtime today :j She is absolutely perfect :)

Unsurprisingly things didn't quite go to plan but our beautiful baby girl was worth every minute of it! We're in hospital tonight so just posting on my phone. Will post more when I'm home.

Thanks for all the fab support on this thread!

I was thinking of getting one that stays in the car, rather than one that goes about town. We'd need one for long journeys but short journeys would be pub transport.

Pigpen, I hope I don't encounter a hospital like that!

Congratulations MrsJ, what a lovely name :) x

We are away to OH's mums in a few weeks so I'm kind of hoping the baby decides to be 7 weeks early and come then lol

Though... I think I might have a breakdown of epic proportions if I had to stay there for any length of time.. my 31+ 3 weeker was only in a week though so it might work out ok :p

    Congrats MrsJ!!
