Congrats dizziblonde! Glad bubs is ok, not long til you get to take lo home..

Just entered 3rd trimester, going to be single digit (week) countdown soon which scares me :S

I have also started snoring and waking myself up with it :o thats a first for me, DH seems to find it funny!

My pram was delivered today, was so excited but DH wants me to hold off on opening the box til we can move it into our new house as he thikns the cats will use it as a bed, lol

That reminds me - anyone with cats and a baby - how did you keep your cats off your babys things? Esp sleeping in the moses basket/carrycot/cotbed? We are taking my girls when baby is 6 months but not sure how to cat proof the nursery (dont want to close the door) or the baby beds..?
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

    Debt at LBM (Sep 07): £13,500. Current debt: [STRIKE]£680[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£480[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£560[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£13[/STRIKE] £0 overdraft :D
Current aims - to start building up savings
    1st £1000 in 100 days - £1178.03 :D 2nd £1053.38/£1000 :D 3rd £863.59/£1000 :o

I put the baby in.. they were not impressed and slept elsewhere.

I hoof the cats out whenever I found them in things and put them outside .. but my cats are fairly sensible and run when I say 'get out/get down'

Putting a fitted cot sheet over the top of the basket/cot keeps them out when it is empty.. very few cats will get in when baby is in.

Our cat was terrified of the baby and wouldn't even be in the same room as him! All that worry for nothing... :)

Can I just ask, did anyone deliberately skip their 20 week scan? Ours is next week and I'm having second thoughts about it:
    1. It seems to me that they can reliably tell so little it makes it a bit meaningless
    2. I wouldn't want to spend the next 20 weeks worrying if they think something could be wrong and we wouldn't terminate anyway
    3. Not bothered about finding out gender
    4. Read somewhere (I know, sorry!) that the ultrasound waves can be very loud for the baby. When I think about how noisy things sound when you put your head under the water in the bath it makes me wonder if that's a kind thing to do given the above.
    Updating soon...

I skip everything.. midwife, consultants etc.. but I go to the scan.. on the off chance there is a problem that can be picked up.. kidney problems, heart defects, cleft palate, blood supply through the umbilical cord etc you can be mentally prepared and have services in place for any extra needs the baby may have.. granted they don't pick up everything. 2 of mine have cysts on their brain which are benign but are being kept an eye on due to other problems. And other things can occur at birth.. cerebral palsy for example.

They reckon 5 or more scans increases the chances of a child being left handed and/or dyslexic but that is only one or 2 of the researchers and their research is often flawed.. too few subjects not enough follow up etc.

Cat has three legs so can't jump into anything anyway- not that I recommend amputation as a cat solution. Generally she's utterly uninterested in babies till she can scrounge fusses off them- our 11 month old is obsessed with the cat now to the point it was one of her first words - along with dada nana and banana!
Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!

lol..my 2 are the most timid of our gang of 5 so will prob leave the baby alone and will probably want to be downstairs most of the time anyway..fingers crossed, we'll see when the time comes and then i guess using cot covers etc will be an option!

  • Hey all,

Spoke with the midwife and she said not to worry as the show can often be green, yellow, brown or red!

I also looked on Google images and there are a number of different colours there-so to speak!!!!

Still no other signs apart from Braxton hicks but due date is next Thursday-i feel I'm going to be overdue!

    Hope everyone is well.

Morning everyone, I'm feeling blah again today, so taking it easy before work later. Midwife put me at possibly a week earlier and I think she's right re-checking dates, as I was already sick by the date it would put me at. Bit worrying considering OH is away, she better stay in until the 19th June!

I agree with pigpen - I think it is still important as they may pick up something that they can then have a team on standby for if they need to i.e. on OBEM the other week when they found out at the scan that the baby's bowel had developed outside and so they had the team ready and waiting to sort it out as soon as it was born.

I agree that would be worrying to know what was coming, but not half as worrying as finding out at the birth and then having everyone in a panic and not knowing what was happening and having your baby whisked away when you weren't expecting it.

It's also just lovely to see the baby again! :D
