I rang as I was panicking a bit. Told me to have paracetamol and a bath :) coping better now. Said ring back in an hour. Should be ok now she didn't dismiss the pains lol. See how it goes now.

Pmsl. Didn't finish quick enough... contraction while typing lol!

Sounds good bamama!! I called twice and twice they told me the same. They assess you over the phone according to:

    A) you have contractions that last over or around a minute
    B) they happen every 3min or less and like clockwork, so all pretty much the same, not one at 4min,other at 3min and other at 4.
    C) you won't be able to talk during a contraction
    D) you'll sound desperate

That's what the not so nice lady.over the phone at triage told me when I said I wanted to go in. She kept telling me to stat at home. Luckily my DH said we.were ignoring her and went nevertheless, I was only 2cm dilated and they.were going to send me home until they realized I was bleeding.

My legs were so swollen that I had no ankles, you could pass the hand where they should be and you could not find them. The skin also went white at the lightest pressure. The legs started to swell slightly about a week before and were massive 2 days before, I could not put the slippers on, they were leaving me deep marks. The swelling lasted about two to three days after delivery too.l in my case.

Rang them back as they requested. Could speak to the woman properly this time. Told her they are a little longer and stronger but not much. She offered to send a midwife again but told her I'm ok.

I'm to ring back if anything changes or in a few hours when they'll probs send a midwife to check me over just incase.

hello ladies. how are you all? i got up so late today. lol.

happy due date lozzy and good luck bamama.. :0)

a huge congrats to you moneypenny. great news and you have your little one.:)

I must say i am a bit disappointed that my little one is not here yet (yes i am so impatient) but during the night, i had a text from one of the nct girls and she had started her contractions and then was texting her back. then earlier at around 8 the other girl from the nct also said she is having contractions.. so i felt a bit down that i will be last because one of them has already had her baby via c-section..i know my due date is today and i should just be patient but now i want to meet my little one. lol. so stayed in bed and ate something. waiting for some movements. wanted to have a shower and shave my last bits and bobs but no gas and hot water again!! stupid thing. typical esp when i desperatly need a shower. anyway those with contractions, good luck and yay!! keep us posted bamama..

ps i felt a few period cramps and now gone.. not sure how to time them or whether to not as one of the girls said that she is contracting and you feel the pain and in between she felt period pain, so i am confused. can period cramps/pains be contractions? lol. they laugh at me because they say i wil lknow the pain of contractions.. so i guess i am still ok? lol. what am i like?

You will for sure know rups happy due date to you too, its all exciting from now bamama, my children don't understand due dates at all, I went to gateshead to see ohs family for a few hours this morning as they were threatening to come here and I don't like them so quicker and easier to to there, then we went to morrisons and spent a small fortune on nice bits to eat for a buffet tea tomorrow, now I am getting my last load of washing done am going to try to dry and iron before tomorrow too.

    bamama, how exciting!

Rups, contractions for me were very very different to period pains... my labour started with period pains but progressed into something more stronger and no, i did not have period pains in between, once there were gone, they were gone and only had contractions that came much closer together to the point where i couldnt talk or breath after one cos the new one will come right after.

  • Eeeeek thanks for letting us know Rups, exciting stuff!

The day is not over yet Rups, still plenty of time for baby to decide to make an entrance. I reckon I am going to be the first of my NCT group to give birth as I am joining the March/April group. On saying that classes haven't yet started so I could be wrong.
